Arctic jock concept(more powerfull arctic shock)
So recently i have had an idea of a potential homemade that could be a better arctic shock. i have been debating however if i should use elastics or a air piston system here is some concept art
also first post on WWN so hopefully this is just the start of my dollar store engineering
(edit i added more concept art)

Re: Arctic jock concept(more powerfull arctic shock)
Welcome to WWN!
Nice pixel art. I've thought that cold water was underused, so I encourage you to try this out. As for what type of pressure chamber to use, I would suggest trying whatever is easiest for you. That's probably some sort of bladder, whether balloons or latex tubing.

Thank you for responding Ben. I think that the ice would serve 2 purposes. 1 storage and 2 actually increasing laminar efficiency of the stream via cold water is denser than hot. The ice would melt with time refilling your reservoir as you play. Now the problem isn’t with the concept it’s with where I live. I live in Syracuse and I’m afraid that the outside air would not be hot enough to melt the ice. Also this project might be awhile since I gotta Finish my APH first and learn the ropes. But that’s about it

I would suggest LRT just make sure to prevent the ice from entering the LRT
Good luck on your APH I am sure we all would like to see it!

Re: Arctic jock concept(more powerfull arctic shock)
thanks for responding Z. i am currently planning on getting the parts for my APH. i dont know if this information would be useful for you guys but i plan on posting the total cost the APH once all parts are bought. getting back on topic i am leaning towards using elastic pressure for many reasons (shot time, output, ect.) but ive also seen some great piston based systems as in NightHawkInlights design. but overall both of you are right elastics would be simpler and would acheive more output and shot time. might do a piston air system later down the road. now i might use a mesh to catch ice from entering the bladder as any ice that makes it through would be too tiny to cause any major damages. changing subject a bit, ever since i conceived this project i thought that i could use a contained ice core that uses salt water instead of plain ice like this https://youtu.be/HzZuuIAdda8?si=SD4qfLjwOAo_H9oh . the idea here is since salt water freezes at -6 i could make the arctic jock even more toxic on the battlefront. now this would make the resivoir refilling ability go away but since the cores would be able to be attached to the screw cap it would make me able to switch back and fourth. however the last thing i would want is to have the water in my resivoir to freeze exploding the pvc in the process. for the elastic i proably will just use latex balloons as they are readily availible and if the bladder explodes i could just take it off and put more balloons on. but after all that, thats pretty much it for now
Edit- Salt water does not freeze at -6 i personally dont know where i got that information. anyways salt water freezes at 26 degrees F

That'd be useful for me, thanks. I've been meaning to redo the guide I have online and update the prices, which are 15-20 years old at this point.Justice_Drencher wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 11:11 ami dont know if this information would be useful for you guys but i plan on posting the total cost the APH once all parts are bought.
Interesting idea to use salt water. The freezing temperature of salt water seems to depend on the amount of salt. -6 F is the coldest obtainable. Looks like you need to get the amount of salt just right, though, as too much will raise the freezing temperature back to 32 F.Justice_Drencher wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 11:11 amthe idea here is since salt water freezes at -6 i could make the arctic jock even more toxic on the battlefront.

Re: Arctic jock concept(more powerfull arctic shock)
thank you for the information Ben. i will use this for evil. in all seriousness that is a great graph that you found. i guess that it was -6 degrees all along, should have trusted my gut instead. i should have said this before but the inspiration for the arctic jock all started when a couple of my airsoft buddys at school this year told me that they couldent take water warfare seriously and that getting hit by a water stream is nothing compaired to a single airsoft bb. and the arctic jock was born out of spite. in reality they probably think that were fighting with the water guns you find on shelves now. they will be in for quite the suprise. the most pain ive ever expeireinced from a water gun belive it or not was a being point blanked by a fan nozzle stung for a good 10 minutes. when this project is completed my freinds will truly know what it means to soak on.
(just wanna be clear i am not going to harm my freinds i know the agreed upon rules of water warfare and moral code. i would never point blank someone in the face, doesnt matter what gun. i know there personal space and would never infringe on that. just 3 guys havin some fun.)

From what I have read balloons are harder and less powerful. Ben can correct me if wrongJustice_Drencher wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 11:11 am. for the elastic i proably will just use latex balloons as they are readily availible and if the bladder explodes i could just take it off and put more balloons on.

Re: Arctic jock concept(more powerfull arctic shock)
latex balloons probably are both of those things. however im going to test this out when project A,J is finished. i feel like LRT would be a matierial a little too good for someone like me to be using. as i said in the prior post if balloon bladder explodes i could easily replace or fix it. if i ruin an LRT bladder first off my dad would be pissed. and second ive heard repairing a damaged LRT bladder is very difficult. but you guys probably know much more than me about elastics based pressure systems so id be intrested to hear your thoughts on this.
