I'm new here in this community and I'm looking forward to sharing experiences with people who love soaker warfare as much as I Do

Currently I'm needing some advice on one of my Monster Xs. The Thing doesnt pressurize at all when pumping. I've heard that it is a common practice to remove the pressure relief valve, so i disassembled it and did so. I sawed it out and locked both sides on the pump assembly with epoxy glue.

Unfortunately it didnt help anything!
Pumping is easy and there is no obvious leaking on the Internals, but there is absolutely no water transported to the firing valve.

Anybody got an idea what to do?

You might have a bad pump check valve. Sometimes debris can get into the check valves and prevent them from seating properly. The check valve springs can also be deteriorating/corroding, allowing big pieces of rusted steel to get into the valves. Or the springs have just lost their strength so they can't seat the valves. Did you try pumping really fast? I have a CPS 2500 and in order to start pumping water you need to pump it very fast. Also the skirt seal on the pump shaft might be damaged so take a look at that too.

No, I haven't tried pumping fast yet, the gun is still disassembled. But i'll do so when it's all mounted again.

The skirt seal at the pump rod seemed a bit worn out indeed. Here is what I did to stiffen it again:

It's actually car body seal, needs 24h to dry completely.

The Check valve seems to be passable, i put some Rust-Eeze solver inside the tube and checked it carefully with a screwdriver. Tomorrow i can see if it all works again...

Hey, welcome to WWN! TheSoaker is most likely right. My CPS 1200 had the same problem, which turned out to be caused by a piece of the PRV (pressure release valve) caught in one of the check valves, keeping it open. It actually isn't super common practice to remove the PRV, unless you are giving the blaster a power mod and need it to be able to pump up to higher pressures. The aforementioned 1200 was K-modded, so that's why I sawed off the PRV. When it's removed, be careful not to overpump the blaster.

So what exactly can there be done to fix it? Saw it off and replace the spring? Thanks for your support

I've actually seen that done before on a CPS 1500 but I don't remember where the post is but yes you could.

I just did that recently to a old SS 200. Both check valve springs didn't have enough tension so I sawed through the middle of valve area and added an addition spring (off of a broken nerf gun) and then used marine epoxy to glue back together. Worked great!

Well, I finally made it!

I sawed through the Check valve area, shortened the spring a bit and glued it all together again.
Just for the fun of it, I even repainted the Reservoir and pump handle, so it can now almost be considered as remanufactured
Works fine again!

I'm glad it's working again! With a little perseverance one can keep a old soaker running for a long time. Most everything is fixable is these things.
