It isn't an XP or even Super Soaker for that matter, as a matter of fact I don't even know what brand make it has pretty good performance and is CPS. I need to rig up some sort of backpack for it though as I couldn't find the one it came with.

Hey Scott, did you ever manage to find my black, StormTech wind breaker that I posted about earlier? It was definitely left at your house on a chair in the dining room. I'm hoping that it wasn't lost, because it was a really good jacket, Canadian-made and only Canadian-sold. I bought it in Victoria, BC.

I had looked all over the house for that thing and hadn't found it before. I figured it must have gotten hung on a hook or put in the coat closet. Turns out it has been sitting on that chair you left it on this whole time!Duxburian wrote:Hey Scott, did you ever manage to find my black, StormTech wind breaker that I posted about earlier? Really can't wait for this war, but I have a whole slew of guns I would like to get fixed before hand. I have an XP 150, but I wouldn't complain if I had a few extras other then my 105. How good is an XP 110 anyway? I'm not really sure if I trust isoakers ratings as they say it shoots farther then the 150! He must have a bad 150 as it only goes 29ft.

M4's 110 shoots about 35' or the same as most 150s
If you ever bother reading these, I worry for your mental sanity.

I absolutely love the 110. It has incredible handling and a 2x nozzle. I plan on getting another one one day when I have a house and room for storage.

Re: Downpour 2013 - Official War Planning Thread
Should've posted this days ago; my bad.
I have reserved sites 66 and 68 at Wilson. They are next to each other on the 'C' loop, and they should have everyone covered. However it cost $150 to reserve them, so I'd appreciate it if everyone who's camping would pitch in a little. (Or DX can pay for everyone by giving me a free 2000.
) If additional people come, they'll probably have to reserve their own site because we won't likely be able to fit everyone. They say no more than two tents per site, but I think we'd be fine if we squeezed in a small 1-man tent like DX's.
So we'll have to figure out who's staying where. I have a 6-person tent (meaning 4 regular-sized people) which I will be staying in. I don't know if my brothers are camping or not; if not, someone else could share the tent (as long as they don't snore). I also have a 4-person tent (2 regular-sized people) that I can lend out to anyone who needs one. I know Scott has a few tents as well.
CA99: So are you riding with DX or am I picking you up?
Scott: Do you know if Bela or Callan can make it yet? Also, please bring my brother's blue hoodie in addition to DX's jacket.
Belisaurius told me he can't make it, but I still need to talk to Bailey and another friend. This war is only two weeks away now; hopefully everyone is prepared. (And I'm crossing my fingers that the weather won't be like it's been lately...) Edit: Bailey says he's down! I also talked to Neptune but he can't come.

Oops, forgot to post back here. Anyways, as mentioned in the PM, I will arrive at LGA at 2:45pm Friday, picked up by DX. Return flight leaves 4:30pm Monday, but we should get to airport early to avoid traffic. As mentioned not much to bring this time, just all non-blaster necessities and a can of whoop-ass.
Re: Downpour 2013 - Official War Planning Thread
Can I pay you in Colossi?
If we have to wake up at 8 AM and it's hot/humid like it's been, Imma crawl into a hole/cave with the water cannon for the first round and sleep.

So when are you guys arriving here?
DX: No, Colossi aren't worth $150, haha. And feel free to find someplace to hide (as long as you're on the other team), just be warned that there are copperheads in the area; I've seen them. That goes for everyone else too. Watch where you step.
I will try to finish the schedule soon. I need to get to Dug Hill again, but finding a dry day on which to do so has proven to be harder than finding an XP 300. If the war turns into a monsoon again......well I might just stop hosting Downpour and maybe start something else with a different name...

Re: Downpour 2013 - Official War Planning Thread
Callan can't make it, and most likely Bela will not be coming ether since he will be getting back that Thursday and will probably be very tired. If he can make it last minute he would be staying in the tent with me anyway. If really need be, he could stay in the hotel with my dad, although then he'd miss the night wars.
I should be able to get up at 8:00am for the battles, but just make sure I don't stay up until 12 like I did at soakemore. I might need encouragement to make this happen!

Edit: I got the backpack rigged up for my "unusual blaster," don't know how well it will do as the output is only around that of a flash flood's stream setting, but it sure will be unusual. I will be surprised if anyone has even herd of it, let alone actually seen one!

Re: Downpour 2013 - Official War Planning Thread
OK, so I just realized a major potential problem. What are we going to do if it is like 90 degrees? I don't mean so much for us (although I know I don't do well with heat), but I am a little worried about my guns sitting in a car that could reach temperatures of up to 110 degrees. Obviously we would be taking the guns out of the car when we can, but that may not always be an option. Any ideas for keeping our guns from melting in a hot car? (I was thinking of keeping mine partly full with water, but I don't know how well that would work.)

Re: Downpour 2013 - Official War Planning Thread
Slightly off topic, but shall we gather up to one of these types of events sometime? https://www.facebook.com/events/357676887675560/ Just have to schedule a community war around them, but they wouldn't even take that much time out of our normal games (3 hours), and it could be good PR if we did it right. Just need to find good surrounding battlefields so we don't spend too much of the day on the road.
Keep the car windows open and the car away from the battlefield, I guess. Not much else I can suggest. I should probably get a Camel Back or something, need lots of drinking water in hot weather.

I'm not paying for everyone.DX: No, Colossi aren't worth $150, haha.
Try to keep your car in the shade with the windows cracked, put cold water in the reservoirs, and cover your guns. Not much can be done, but I don't recall having problems with things melting before. What are we going to do if it is like 90 degrees?
I'm trying to gradually adjust my sleeping schedule for this war, but I think it's really the food situation that creates all the problems - I don't get nearly enough to eat during Community wars. At night, there is plenty of time and supply, but breakfast and lunch are pretty meager and crammed into not enough time. Not everyone can survive on tubs of yogurt...I need at least 3,400 calories a day when doing nothing, and around 5,800 when physically active, which means I'm not getting half of what I need at wars. I still function, because my need to win overrules everything else, but it can't be healthy.

Re: Downpour 2013 - Official War Planning Thread
Scott: So I should scratch Bela from the list then? That's a shame; we had 10 people! Maybe we can still get that many. As for your mystery soaker, just a wild guess, but is it an A.R.M. blaster? As for the heat, I have never heard of blasters melting under normal circumstances before. It took a heat gun (probably like 400 degrees or so) to melt the plastic on my old 12K valve.
CA99: I'm not really a huge fan of such events. Even the soakfests we do get old after a few minutes (though here I want it to be a little more competitive; it will also be weird guns-only, which I believe I forgot to mention). I might be persuaded to come to one if everyone else wanted to. We could do the suits-and-2000s thing, though I'd need to get a suit because in the country, our "nice clothes" are basically anything that isn't covered in mud.
DX: Tell me what kind of food you would like to eat and my parents will bring it. I think they were going to bring bagels or something, but I agree that they're probably not filling enough. Maybe steak or something? Protein shakes? At night we will order pizza which should fill everyone up. I also haven't had enough to eat during wars, which is why I'm often low on energy and not thinking very clearly.
Everyone should go to sleep no later than 11PM, which shouldn't be a big deal because there are no videogames or other distractions at the campsite to make people want to stay up late. We have to stop fighting by 10PM because that's when quiet hours start.

Re: Downpour 2013 - Official War Planning Thread
Yes, it is possible that he would be able to make it last minute, but I highly doubt it.
How the heck did you guess that? Yes it is an A.R.M. 4000! I had to rig up a water bottle to use as a backpack, but from what I have heard of the one it came with my homemade one is probably better. I'm really amazed that you got it on your first try. It isn't really that good, but you might be able to fight a CPS 1200 with it and it has nearly 20 seconds of shot time.
I know the plastic of the gun wont melt in the car, but what I'd be worried about is the rubber tubing/ends of the pumps and the chambers of CPS guns. I'm probably being paranoid, but the rubber end of the pump on my Water Warriors Lightning was melted when I took it apart.

The most energy-packed breakfast foods are things like apples, eggs, cheese, anything with fat or natural plant sugars. Fat = 9 cal per gram, carbs = 4 cal per gram, protein = 4 cal per gram. Everyone seems to be afraid of fat, but it is the superior energy source, especially mono and poly-unsaturated fats. I pour olive oil on my pasta now, as it's crammed with unsaturated fat. I don't want to burden anyone with cooking things, so I might bring some hard boiled eggs to supplement what we have for breakfast. That is, if it's not hot outside, cause I'm not sure if they'd stay hard boiled in a car full of melting soakers, lol.

Dude, olive oil and spices is one of the best pasta toppings. Also, try getting some french or italian bread and dipping it in olive oil with some rosemary, oregano, basil, and or zatar. Also, have you ever considered getting a juicer? Maybe later on in life? It's been so great having one. Plant sugars rock and you get a ton of natural energy and calories when you pack as much fruit into a glass as possible. I do everything from apples to oranges, kiwis, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, limes, lemons, melons... even cucumbers and celery. Hunters used to carry cucumbers as a cooling energy source in Europe during the middle ages. I've found that fruit juices have their own unique effect on my body so I make different combinations depending on what I'm feeling.

Scott: Well you said it was CPS, unlike anything else, and it had a backpack. It could really only be one thing.
So I made a Soak 'n' Destroy game summary. I finally came up with rules that I feel will work. I still need to work out the rules for the multi-stage game, but I'm going to Dug Hill later today to do so. Everything should be planned out soon.
Here are the SnD rules:
Symmetrical SnD: Teams start on each side of the Junkyard area, on the edge of the clearing. These are also used as spawn points. Each team starts with a "bomb" that they must bring to the enemy's target, where they must plant it and activate the timer for 1 minute. Each target is placed on either end of the Junkyard area. A coin toss/rock-paper-scissors will determine which team gets which target. Bombs are disarmed if the other team deactivates the timer. The player who disarmed it may take it into the middle of the battlefield (near the rock piles), but nowhere else. Any player who's carrying the bomb must drop it if hit. Anybody can pick it up, but the opposing team cannot take it anywhere other than the center of the battlefield. Running off with an opposing team's bomb will result in ejection from the game. The first team to "blow up" (in other words, successfully protect the timer for 1 minute) their target wins. Players cannot travel more than ~200 feet from the perimeter of the Junkyard area.
If you have any concerns, by all means speak up.

That actually sounds really awesome. Please set up cameras near the bases/timers.

Re: Downpour 2013 - Official War Planning Thread
I've previously opted against the video game bomb approach for SnD since no one would listen to or follow the rules. That's not a problem for us though, so I guess it's well worth a try.
That said, the rules you stated seem to be incomplete. What will be used for the timer (sounds like a watch/timer device, kitchen timer, or maybe hourglass)? Will there be a global game time limit? I assume disarming simply means turning off the timer? In addition, what's to stop the game from turning into a de-facto HTL game if a team's bomb gets stuck in the middle of the battlefield? Can't rely on silly ambiguous rules such as "no camping the bomb/the spawns/etc."; these issues need to be resolved properly.
