FS: Monster XL $150 OBO
FS: Monster XL $150 OBO
Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum, but figured super soaker forums would be the best place to find a good home for my Monster XL.
I have an older Monster XL from 2002. I haven't had much use for it and would love to see it go to a collector who appreciates it.
The gun works great as far as I can tell, no leaks. Feel free to ask for specific tests and I would be glad to do them. I do not have the QFD for it.
It is a little sentimental to me so I am looking for $150 or best offer, I think shipping would be ~$30 to anywhere in the US.
Feel free to ask questions, I would be happy to answer them.

Welcome to the forum! As always, we recommend sellers (especially those looking for so much money) head over to eBay. Not only is the sales process more secure, but you will not find many people here willing to pay so much for a water gun.

Thanks for the advice
I actually already tried on ebay and didn't get any bids. Although I did see other Monster XL's sell for similar prices at some select auctions (I figure it's just luck of the draw with the bidding wars). I'm just trying to price things out and sell if the price is right. Like I said, these super soaker boards seem to have some collectors on them that would appreciate and get more use out of this thing than I do.
If anyone is interested, I could just arrange a quick "buy it now" auction on ebay at an agreed on price to keep both parties protected under whatever protections ebay offers.
As always, thanks for the interest

The 2002 edition MXL is not nearly as good as the original. I doubt you'll be able to sell it for $150. Try $99.99

I'm not really sure when I got it, it may have been 2001 actually, how can I tell? Would you be interested in $150 with shipping included?

Yours is the 2002 edition. I can tell because it has short barrels and a more spherical-shaped reservoir.

Re: FS: Monster XL $150 OBO
I do not like the 2002 model as much as the original one. It is just not as good as it could be. Smaller reservoir and shorter nozzles are no improvement.
From own experience I can say that the short nozzles sometimes do not provide a laminar stream, more like a burst. The longer nozzles are just good to keep the laminator and hold the stream clean and straight.
150 Dollars for the XL 2002, no thanks

Re: FS: Monster XL $150 OBO
Most of the eBay auctions that end up in the $100+ area are those that start very cheap. A $150 starting price will scare people off.
I understand that it's very risky to have a low starting price, but that'll attract more bidders.

Re: FS: Monster XL $150 OBO
Yeah, it's definitely risky to start low sometimes. I'm not really looking for a quick sale, like I said $150 or best offer if anyone wants to make one. I'm willing to throw in shipping for that price. Thanks for the advice everyone

Uh, that's actually not the 2002 edition. The 02 version had even shorter nozzles. Click here for a comparison. You have the original version.martianshark wrote:Yours is the 2002 edition. I can tell because it has short barrels and a more spherical-shaped reservoir.

We probably won't be back, but the legacy lives on.

Hm, if you sell the CPS Monster XL Mk1(original version with the long nozzles etc.) for 150 Dollars total, we have a deal !
let me know !

Re: FS: Monster XL $150 OBO
That sounds tempting, but I think shipping to Australia would be prohibitively expensive. I was thinking in terms of $120 for the gun and $30 for shipping. If there is a shipping option for around $30 I would do it.

^He lives in Austria, not Australia. Shipping will probably still be bad, but it would be worth it to recalculate.

Thanks ! I really do not know why people do interchange and miss-read this SO OFTEN !! ... Between Austria and Australia are more than 14 227 773 kilometres !!! And Australia is a Continent while Austria is just a small but well developed land in west-europe....wetmonkey442 wrote:^He lives in Austria, not Australia. Re: FS: Monster XL $150 OBO
Location isn't the reason people mistake you for living in Australia. They just sound really similar.

Re: FS: Monster XL $150 OBO
Apologies for that, I was actually reading something interesting about making similar mistakes a while ago. http://dan.hersam.com/2005/01/27/readin ... d-letters/
I did a few quick quotes for Austria and it seems like the shipping would still run $80-120, unless you are able to find something cheaper? I'm in North Carolina, US
Thanks for the interest everyone, I even learned something about my supersoaker that I had not known before (never knew it was the "original"). I might be tempted to hang on to it for a while longer haha.
