I've heard of and seen many bipods removed or broken off of Monster XLs. Apparently they lack durability and can break off easily.

I just received an XL with fully functioning bipod, and considering what i just mentioned, I'm trying to decide whether or not I should attempt a reinforcement on the bipod legs, or just remove them temporarily to prevent breaking. Obviously i'd prefer to leave them on, however i'm open to suggestions.

Hi

You know if the bipod breaks it isn't a BIG deal because the gun is still good with or without them!

I know, but as a collector, I like to preserve the integrity of my weapons as much as possible, be it visually or functionally. Also, the legs are cool and I'd prefer to keep them working as long as possible, even if the best thing to do would be to remove them for future use, to stop permanent disabling of them.

Keep it on, and whoever breaks them (With the exception of you, of course.) will have to give you $100.00.

The bipod is more likely to break if you actually try to use it as a bipod in battle. They are great for displaying an MXL, but not too useful from a battle-practical standpoint. Others remove the bipod since, as you may have experienced, the feet can get in the way of smooth pumping. The bipod legs, however, can be removed safely with care and replaced at a later point assuming all parts are kept safe and the mounting holes are kept safe from damage.

Okay, thanks i_soaker. I'm considering taking it off and saving the parts. If not, I'll just be smart about using it-

THanks!
