activity has greatly increased because of it
Well, that and the funny timing of me getting a bunch of new soakers to talk about.
Thanks for the vote of support on the change, though!

By new fast-fill cap do you mean that they made another? Or just that they work with last years. I hope that they're new, because I tested my FF's cap on my other guns, and it doesn't fit any of them. It also won't fit on all the PVC I've tried.

Do you have a monster series/2002-2003 CPS gun? I am wondering if they use the same cap as the quick-fill one.

From my knowledge, before this year, there are 2 versions of the quick-fill cap. Last year's version supposedly works better than 2004's caps, but I hadn't noticed much of a difference. However, I've never tried swapping caps between soakers so I can't say how well any of those caps fit older models. Will need to try that later.

Man, the backpack would be useless if we can't find a suitable adaptor! Hope we work something out. I know for sure that the cap on my CPS 1700 and CPS 2000 is different than the one on my Monster XL.

The threads are the only real difference between caps, but I could be wrong.

You're right. But the threads mean everything. If there is no suitable adaptor, then it won't connect. The cap could be threaded wierd, making integration impossible.

Let's wait for isoaker to test the gun's, backpack's and cap's before we continue discussion on how to switch the cap's.

It should be easy to make an adapter. You can just cut out the original cap until there's no more quickfill part, but it fits a standard size of adapter, then epoxy a female thread into it. You would then sand the threads off the cap of the soaker to convert, then wrap it in elextrical tape until the male adapter of the same size as the female could be put on with a good seal (epoxy that too).

I will say this, that Defender looks interesting. Bare bones, stripped down design, Adrian likes. If only it was CPS...

C'mon, did you really think Hasbro would make a good CPS gun this year? I wanted them to make CPS 2000 anniversary editions, (check my sig) but I didn't really think they would. It would just show how bad they have been making the guns of '03-'05. My current problem is deciding whether to get the WW 2006 guns, or wait till 2007, when BB will improve their guns, and whan Hasbro might at least release a light CPS cannon.
So the backpack is the only improvement over the guns from the last 10 years. I am willing to say that my 1700 is better than anything they made this year. This means no progress has been made for the last 8+ years. But a 1700 with a backpack would be like a customizable 3200, and that is why I am not totally giving up on this year's line. So,
And let's look forward to the backpack!

No progress in the last 8+ years? Every CPS gun was released within the last 10! The Legendary 98s were exactly 8 years ago. Then again I see your point: water guns have been getting weaker as the years roll on. This year, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm spending my soaker-related money at Lowes, Home Depot, and Sears, not Target or Toys-R-Us. :;):
You can make a homemade backpack cheaply and with far superior durability and capacity than company made ones. But most people don't for some reason. I personally don't like soaker backpacks and would never use any, but that will be its own article and I'll explaining why in some other topic.

Well, for the backpack, the little one holds 1.4L and is shaped differently than the one for the Overload.
In terms of how these things attach, it appears to hook directly into the new Max Infusion modified Quick-Fill cap. See Image from back of the box:

Either the new caps need to be compatible with older soakers for it to work or a new cap would need to be coupled onto a modified old-cap to make it compatible. (As an aside, the Max Infusion Overload backpack is rated by Hasbro as holding 2.9L )
Sidenote: on the boxes of the new soakers, there are little rating scales for Distance and Capacity. The rated distances of the 2006 line is 35', but on their little graphs, it is only ~70% of the length of the max tick on the graph. Might this mean that they have farther shooting soakers coming in the future that will have full bars on their Distance scales? Time will tell...

This years line is still better than the 03-05 lines, and thing's can only get better from here. WW will also have a good line so let's just STOP being ungrateful for this years line. Were lucky they didn't rehash the whole ees line and put it in a new box. We always have the option of mod's and homemades if we don't like Hasbro's guns. By 2007 I am confident that we will see a mid-sized cps cannon, but as time goes on the chances of remakes become more and more unlikley, so any gun like that will be completley original which is fine with me.
Edit: It's a bummer that the separate backpack only holds 1400ml. It look's like I will be getting a overload, but only if it's $30 or less (I have a strange feeling that they want $40 for it) if not I will wait for a late season sale.

Yay, that backpack attachment looks much more easily adapted than a cap. You might be able to screw it into a female adapter and fill the spaces with epoxy.

Actually, I think 2005's line was better. It had two CPS blasters and a great pistol with HUGE output for a PR soaker. As for the cap, same aas I said earlier. Sand the threads off the desired gun, electrical tape, epoxy. Easier than a homemade backpack, only much more expensive. :;):
That cap to the backpack looks rather... non-quickfill.
The ratings always appear misleading. They just make you believe the most expensive soaker is the best, forcing you to buy it. I'm waiting for the iSoaker reviews before I buy anything. :;):

While there's a 99.999repeating % chance that I'm not buying any of them, I encourage you guys to if you like the stats when iSoaker preforms his tests. I may appear pessimistic, but if you look at threads with the guns I make or arsenal postings, you'll see why. :p

They still have liquidators (assuming that's the pistol) in this line. :cooll:
For once though, it looks like a Hasbro gimmick might have accidently did something good. they wouldn't be able to make the Defender backpack-compatible if it were PR. It seems in like it's in a class between the Xp 270 and XP 310 .
