I almost had a heart attack when I saw the toy isle today at a thrift store and there was a huge, bright green water gun sitting there. It turned out to be a CPS 1500 with a $1.99 sticker. Tested it with air at the store and it held pressure and fired. The pump needs re-lubrication, but other than that it appears to work fine. Only water gun I found today, but definitely a keeper. The funny thing is that store is usually a bust.I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the Monster X.

Re: Latest Soaker / Water Blaster
That's the weird thing... I thought there was only 1 color variant (Mainly blue, and some yellow), but I swear I have seen a green and blue one somewhere...
Mine is of the former color.
Also, 2$ for a CPS 1500 - That is just awesome. You go DX!
Isn't that funny though? I find a Monster X at a store that usually has nothing, and then you find a CPS 1500 at a store that usually has nothing, and all of this after you said (before your CPS4100 find) that you had never found CPS at a thrift store before. My good luck must be rubbing off on you! XD
PS: I got a Speedloader 2000 with an original QFD from Soakologist, so I no longer need yours... But maybe in the future, if you want to sell it for cheap.
(You should test it when you get the chance) And if you haven't already (and forgive me if you have) take lotsa pictures of the box.
Alas, I knew nothing about Super Soakers when I was younger. All I ever had was an MDS, but I could have had almost any Super Soaker available...

Re: Latest Soaker / Water Blaster
My theory is that parents are more likely to donate their kids' water guns once it gets cold (well in 4 climate states at least). So this stuff shows up and for cheap because who else buys water guns when it's cold? The 1500 didn't come with a reservoir cap, but I have so many broken CPS that it was easy to find another. I might end up just trading that SL 2000 with someone eventually. I know iSoaker hasn't got one...

Re: Latest Soaker / Water Blaster
Dunno, this spring/summer, I have found a CPS 1000,1700,2500, (Monster X), (Speedloader 1000), 1500, XXP 275, (Vindicator), AP Gorgon, Tiger Shark, XP150 X2, various other XP's and classic SS at thrift stores. (Things in brackets are most recent). But I also bought a CPS 1500, 2500, SS300, Monster, XP105 and SC500 off of craigslist before it was even May! I also saw an Overload, along with a Big Trouble (in hindsight, should have bought that
).
There has to be a pattern, some logic to the madness that is the thrift-store vintage gun availability. I can't make any conclusions yet (not even close!), but in the last two months, I have found less than I would find in two weeks in the spring. Then again, I check every other day in the spring, but only because I find new things that frequently. Now I find something once, maybe twice a week; maybe I will find nothing for two weeks checking 2-3 times per week.
In the end, I just ditch the statistics, and pray to the Value Village gods.
It is POURING RAIN outside right now. There is a parked car sliding downhill. O_O

Re: Latest Soaker / Water Blaster
Wow those are some good finds. The Vindicator I have from iSoaker is the green and blue version. It's very good. I just do not like the rear mounted handle and trigger. I thought about modifying it so that the weight wasn't distributed completely to the front, but decided against it. It's a good gun to loan out to people on your team because it's so well rounded, plus basically impossible to break (unless you're Scott
). We need to get out to BC so we can have a battle. You've got lots of good guns.

Re: Latest Soaker / Water Blaster
Yeah, I would have preferred the green version. The crazy thing? Somebody in my neighborhood has the green Vindicator, and they left it outside on their front lawn for 3 WEEKS. Every single time I went by that house, I cursed them and swore I would go back and take it.
If it was a vintage Super Soaker, it would already be mine. XD
On another note, there has been a Hydro Cannon sitting on someone else's front porch since August. When I get around to digging out some parts, I may just "Acquire" it for some modifications... Hehe.
I like the Vindicator a lot. It's like a CPS 1000 with more nozzle options, a tracked pump and a bigger reservoir. And yeah, it's pretty much indestructible. I actually prefer the inline handle because it makes it easier to pump; the trigger is a bit overlarge but I plan on trimming it down a little bit, without the trigger I find the handle to be quite comfortable. My only complaint is, how do you know when the PC is full? Mine is very quiet and doesn't seem to make any noises or become harder to pump.
I would love it if there were more enthusiasts around here! I have more guns than 5 people could carry, and feasibly I could host up to 20 people with CPS tech alone. XD If I had a team, it would be OMA (for either One-Man Army, One-Man Arsenal, or what you start to say when you first see my collection)

Re: Latest Soaker / Water Blaster
If you trim the trigger you should take some pictures. It's just a minor mod, but still, would be interesting to see. I haven't used my Vindicator enough to know when it's pumped up all the way. It's always been loaned out to someone on my team so far.
Some of us have been talking about taking a cross country road trip next year. I have recommended our final destination be Vancouver for that big soakfest you went to this year.

Re: Latest Soaker / Water Blaster
Hehe, that's definitely a possibility. The thing is, the last two years the weather has been iffy on the planned date, and they have ended up with "The return of the VAW" (so a second waterfight) and both times the turnout the second date has been massive (as it was supposed to be the first time). There were a good number of people when I went for the first time this year (at least a hundred), but I missed the usual "epic" turnout. The Vancouver Annual Waterfight has been going on for around ten years; so hopefully the exception doesn't become the norm. Here's hoping for good weather and a chance to really put my arsenal to use next year! Some of us have been talking about taking a cross country road trip next year. Re: Latest Soaker / Water Blaster
OK, well it's been a while but I figured it was about time for my Latest Soaker/Water Blaster report!
All of these things I have acquired in the past week or so. Behold!

I got the Speedloader 1500 + 2000 from Soakologist. I just picked them up from the US today.
Then I have something special... A brand new in box, Speedloader 2500. The biggest, baddest Speedloader ever made, it's all mine, and it's so... SHINY!

Triple Threat Action! Yeah! It appears to be the newer version of the SPDL2500, because A: it "loads 4X faster" and B: on the back it lists the elusive Speedloader 1100 and 1600. These do actually exist, somebody here has an 1100 that I have seen a picture of.
And a broken Arctic Blaster from Salvation Army that I salvaged for 3$. The chamber is good, but the stream valve is stuck open, and will probably need a new spring.

Yes, I said Arctic Blaster. It says so right there!
I am really glad I have this, mostly so that I can now tell the Arctic Shock/Blast(er)apart. I had an Arctic Shock once but I traded it for a CPS 1000. (technically speaking.) The AB is a much better weapon than the AS.
And I have decided to make the switch from imageshack to Minus! Yay! It takes literally seconds to make an account (no email required) and it is AWESOME. I will leave my imageshack account open for a while and slowly transition to using Minus. I still have backlog to deal with for a while though... But hey, that's life! Still figuring out the interface right now, but it's hella better than imagesack's tiny... buttons.

Wow, that's an awesome lot of guns. I hope you get to use those Speed Loaders in battle. I always liked the SL 1500.

Re: Latest Soaker / Water Blaster
Yeah, I can't wait! I can now use all possible speedloader combinations, except for the SPDL 3000, of course.
-Dual-wielding SPDL 1000's (well balanced, easily holsterable)
-Dual-wielding SPDL 1500's (front heavy, but powerful and lots of control over output)
-Wielding the SPDL 2000 (can fire in two directions at once, plenty of water)
-Wielding the SPDL 2500 (haven't tested it yet, but with the strap I can carry even more guns, and it has a LOT of water and power)
etc, etc.
Actually, the SPDL 2000 is not working so well, and it's getting cold out, so soon I will have no water pressure to test them with. I will have to wait for the spring. The 2500 is staying in the box until then. In the spring, on a warm day, I want to empty out my armory and test EVERYTHING. Videos too hopefull!
Oh, and after running around and checking 9 thrift stores in one day, I found a broken Classic XP 150 lying on the sidewalk a few blocks from my house. It was the only water gun I had seen all day (and the cheapest) XD
Other than that, no good finds AT ALL lately...

Re: Latest Soaker / Water Blaster
I just got a 21k mk 1, and a 2500 from Marauder. The 21k mk1 we modded it at the modding party Saturday night. I still need to fix it. It's pump shooting. We tried to fix it that night but it did not work.
Something is wrong in the prv so we opened Scott's 2100 mk 2 that was broken. We were going to get the prv out of it, but when Keith got it open he snapped the prv so we just need to use all purpose cement to connect the plastic pipe that connected the prv the the hose.

Re: Latest Soaker / Water Blaster
It was a very informative night, they learned how to K-mod and how to drill out screws if they are too stripped to come out naturally. It's the trigger valve that is broken, pump shooting, and not the type that the rubber band repair can fix. It might require more testing once glued, because it will have the mk2 PRV with the mk1 PC.
I'd also recommend replacing the plastic column in the pump handle. Drill it out and drill a hole in both sides and stick a metal screw through it. The screw will take the stress of pumping up a K-modded gun no problem.

Re: Latest Soaker / Water Blaster
Unfortunately the MK1 pump won't fit into the MK2 pump shaft (that's what she...er...). I am thinking of cutting open the MK1 valve and un-jamming it, then use the MK2 valve as a replacement for my 12K's valve (it's exactly the same), which is in really bad shape at the moment. Who thinks this is a good idea?

Re: Latest Soaker / Water Blaster
Oh SHIT. I forgot to give you a pump that fits. I have several mk2 pumps that would slide right in. Guess I can get that to you for the Sunday war.
So, I was at a thrift store today and found a quick blast. Never heard of it and it looks like crap, but I bought it for stats. Some little kid goes over to the next shelf and pulls a Max-D 3000 that I didn't see. Crap, how did I miss it, there was nothing else good at that store. Well, the kid's mother hated guns, so after playing with it for several minutes while I waited, pretending to browse at other stuff, he had to put it back. Sucker. You can never have too many Max-D 3000s...I have like 9 now.
