I'm assuming that weapons are factory and may be reasonably modded (1200k, 10x Gorgon ect).
Listed in order

1. CPS 3000
2. CPS 3200
3. Monster XL
4. CPS 2700
5. CPS 4100/ Monster 2001
6. CPS 2500
7. XXP 275 (5x's drilled)
8. CPS 1200
9. CPS 1000
10. CPS 2100
11. XP 250 (5x drilled)
12. Vindicator (10x drilled)
13. Gorgon (10x drilled)
14. Argon (10x drilled)
15. XP 150
16. XP 75's (duel wielded)
17. SS 300
18. CPS 2000
19. Blazer
20. Flash Flood
21. Orca

Yeah durability put the 300 down very low on my list, also 2k field life Sux
If you ever bother reading these, I worry for your mental sanity. :oo:

Going by estimation:

1: CPS 3000
2: CPS 2700
3: CPS 3200
4: CPS 1500/1700
5: CPS 2500
6: SS 300
7: Monster XL
8: Monster ('01)
9: CPS 4100
10: CPS 2000
11: SC Power Pak
12: CPS 1200
13: CPS 1000
14: CPS 2100
15: Monster X
16: Gorgon
17: CPS Splashzooka
18: Vindicator
19: Vanquisher
20: XP 250
21: XXP 275
22: SC 600
23: Blazer
24: Flash Flood
25: Arctic Blast

I'm sure some of the Speedloaders deserve a spot on this list, but I am not very familiar with them so I didn't include any.

It's been too long since I've had any real soakfest. I'll see what I can come up with anyway... I'll be grouping blasters that are pretty much the same thing.

- CPS 3200/3000
- CPS 2700
- Monster XL
- Monster X
- CPS 2000
- CPS 2500
- CPS 1500/1700
- SS 300
- CPS 1000/1200/2100
- Flash Flood/Arctic Blast/Iron Man 2
- CPS 4100/Monster
- Gorgon
- Orca
- Vindicator
- Vanquisher
- Max-D 6000

So it was only 15 instead of 25, but gives the general idea.

Edit: I missed a few, such as the Monster/CPS 4100. I also left out SC exclusives, since I haven't yet built a pump that can fill them. But even then, having to use a pumping station when you're out of water in a soakfest is not very practical, so that leaves them useful only for specific environments in which pressurized water is readily available. (In that case, the hose with VHS attachment would be #1 on my list, and the Power Pak/Zooka would be somewhat high up the list.)

1.2700- great shot time, can outlast anything besides backpack guns and is not nearly as unwieldy as it looks
2. 2000- simply because of it's sheer power and 10 ft range advantage, if you use tap shots and have a good sidearm it is very dangerous
3. Monsters- haven't used, but I would guess these have a massive advantage because of the ability to use QFDs
4. 3000/3200-I used to think these were perfect for this game type but I am starting to think Power Pak/ 2700/ 2000 can be more effective since they are more powerful and maneuverable
5. Power Pak- still the longest shot time on 10X/ aquastorm possible, incredibly light and maneuverable for something almost as powerful as a 2700
6. SS 300- almost as much range as a 2000 MK2, very powerful and not as fragile as you would think (it is still fragile as storm said), long field life
7. 1000/1200/2100
8. Blazer /(Orca?)- long shot times, ideal for fighting against nerf soakers but can still compete with small CPS
9. Splashzooka
10. Big Trouble
11. XXP 275
12 XP 250?
I can't really provide an opinion on the larger WW's since I have only used the blazer/colossi

Uh Darthmeow, do I need to start about my 300 hitting 55' again (20 air pumps, 18 water) But then again mine was NIB until Moab 2013 and has barely been used.

1. CPS 3000
2. CPS 3200
3. SS 300
4. CPS 2700
5. Monster X
6. Monster XL any version
7. CPS 1200 MK1/3
8. CPS 1500/1700
9. CPS 2500
10. CPS 2000 any version
11. XP 250
12. PPB w/ backpack mod
13. Monster 01
14. CPS 4100
15. CPS 1200 MK2/4
16. CPS 1000 any version
17. CPS 2100 any version
18. Gorgon
19. Vindicator
20. Blazer
21. Orca
22. XXP 275
23. Vanquisher
24. XP 150
25. Tiger Shark

I left out the Power Pak and Zooka as they are QFD-only and would be useless in any soakfest lacking hose/pre-pressurized water access. Ben's bachelor party demonstrated that a CPS 2000 does not make for a good soakfest primary. It is fun and you will be able to overwhelmingly drench people at first, but then it will be empty and even an XP 310 can just rush into you and soak you slowly.

1. SC Power Pak
2. Monster XL
3. SS 300
4. CPS 3000/3200
5. CPS 2700
6. CPS 1500/1700
7. CPS 2500
8. Monster X
9. CPS 4100/Monster
10. CPS 2000
11. Splashzooka
12. Vindicator
13. XP Pool Pumper Blaster w/ backpack
14. XXP 275
15. XP 250
16. Gorgon
17. CPS 1200
18. CPS 1000 & 2100 (tie)
19. SC Big Trouble
20. Blazer
21. Flash Flood w/ backpack
22. Orca
23. Lightning
24. Aquapack Devastator
25. Tiger Shark
+1 SC 600
+2 XP 150
+3 Vanquisher

I'm going to make a community top 25 list on Hydrowar. 1st place votes count for 25 points, 2nd place counts for 24 points, 25th counts for 1 point, etc. If you didn't include QFD blasters go back and add them if you think they are good enough. If you already did, go ahead and add the same amount of regular blasters as QFD blasters, ie if you have 3 QFD only blasters like me, add 3 non QFD blasters. This way we have a top 25 list for when QFDs are available, and when they aren't available.

I'm pretty excited to see the results. I didn't bother including marks because it might get too messy. I also had some blasters in a tie since they are too similar. Performance wise the 3000 and 3200 are identical, in this situation I don't care that the 3000 is more comfortable and it's hard to quantify how important the 3200's ability to fill via QFD is. I'm pretty excited about this!

Rob, give me your 26th best gun, since I'm going to count the 3000 and 3200 as the same in my list. Stephen, I'm not counting dual welding in my list, this is about single blasters. Can you give me an updated list that I can use on my site? Thanks guys.

uh, I was assuming a city park soakfest with dozens of strangers, not a WWN League soakfest round that changes my list.

1. CPS 3000/3200
2. SS 300
3. CPS 2700
4. CPS 1500/1700
5. CPS 4100/ Monster 2001
6. Power Pak
7. Splashzooka
8. CPS 1200
9. CPS 1000
10. CPS 2100
11. Monster XL
12. Vindicator
13. Gorgon
14. Blazer
15. XP 150
16. Python 2 (I know it preforms worse than most guns ranked under it, but that balance)
17. SL 1000
18. CPS 2000
19. XP 275
20. XP 250
21. Flash Flood
22. SC 600
23. SC 500 (mk2, and 3)
24. XP 75
25. Long Syringes

4. Monster X
5. Monster XL any version
6. CPS 1500/1700
7. CPS 2500

9. CPS 2000
10. XP 250
11. PPB w/ backpack mod
12. Monster 01
13. CPS 4100
14. CPS 1200
15. CPS 1000
16. CPS 2100
17. Splashzooka

22. Orca
23. XXP 275
24. Vanquisher
25. XP 150
+1. Tiger Shark
+2. Flash Flood w/ backpack
+3. Lightning

Without marks considered, that drops the 1200 a lot assuming the more common 2/4 is used.

Mine was NIB when I got it 4 months ago and is also in great condition. I know it hits almost the same range as my 2K but probably not farther. When I measured flat range, my 2K outranged my 300 by a few feet. Also, 5 mph wind will destroy a 300 stream while a CPS 20X stream will not.

Coming up with a listing of top 25 is hard for me to do. I thought about just listing the top 25 blasters based strictly on output I've measured, but some may feel that's not really reflective on what I personally prefer. That said, I still have my favourites, but after ~#10 or so, it's hard for me to rank accurately since order of preference also ends up varying with my mood on who I'm likely up against and how wet I want to get my opponents versus how wet I wish to get. :goofy:

1. CPS 1500
2. CPS 2500
3. CPS 1000
4. CPS 3200
5. Monster X
6. Monster XL
7. Monster (2001)
8. CPS 4100
9. WW Vindicator
10. CPS 2100
11. CPS 1200
12. CPS 2700
13. WW Pulse Master
14. WW Gorgon

15+. Toss up between the following: WW Blazer, WW Python 2, XP150, XP310, Max-D6000, SC500, SS100, SS300, WW Equalizer/Outlaw, WW Colossus, WW Steady Stream, Flash Flood, Arctic Blast, Triple Shot, WW Scorpion, WW Hydra Pak, SC Power Pak, WW Tiger Shark, Vaporizer+AquaPak, Helix

When choosing between lighter-calibre blasters, or heck, when choosing my preferred blaster for a soakfest, I do take into account what others are using in order to have the game more balanced.

I should also note that I wouldn't use my CPS 3000 in a soakfest since I just don't trust the backpack enough for heavy, prolonged use.

3. CPS 2500
4. CPS 1200
5. Gorgon AP
6. Vanquisher
7. Speedloader 3000

Like others, making a full list of 25 would be really hard, but I will see how many I can get. I'm also going to keep it to guns I've actually used, though I'm going to count the 3000 just because it is basically the same as the 3200. My list is also going to differ from most others because it is what I would prefer to take into a soakfest, not necessarily the best choice for everyone (my list is for a "fun" soakfest, if it is actually a "who stays dry" soakfest then I will have to make another list).

1. Shield Blaster 3000 - It has a shield, it is still pretty hard to block with, but it is just so fun to try
2. Vindicator - Great field life even if turned to the larger nozzles, I'm just so good at using it too
3. CPS 1500
4. CPS 2500
5. CPS 1200
6. CPS 1000 - beaten by the 1200 because of a less capable reservoir
7. Flash Flood with large aquapack - assuming I still had a working one, that flood nozzle is so fun to use
8. XP 150
9. XXP 275
10. CPS 3200 - would be higher, but it is just to darn heavy!
11. CPS 3000 - same as above
13. 2x Thunderstorms - what? They suck for regular wars, but never having to pump in a soakfest would be nice
14. HP Vanquisher
15. Colossus
16. Hydroblitz - wish I still had that thing, in a soakfest it was pretty awesome
17. Monster XL - might be higher on the list if I had used it more then once
18. Helix - though there are way more capable blasters, in a soakfest it would be just to darn funny
19. Water Ball SL 175 - another great gag blaster
20. 2x Crickets
21. Max-D 6000
22. Python 2
23. Colossus 2
24. XP 105 - would be way higher if it had better field life
25. Arctic Blast - I know it should be the same as the Flash Flood, but in my experience it gets far inferior performance

Wow I did get to 25! Again, like I said, if this is for a "who stays dry" type of soakfest, my list will be much different. This is my "don't care if I get wet I'm going to have fun" soakfest list. I left out "great" guns like the Monster X, CPS 2700, and Gorgon since I have never so much as fired them before so felt that it would be unfair to add them based on what others thought about them

Honestly, if your objective isn't to soak and stay dry (which would make sense during a heat wave or what not), then pretty much anything works for soakfests.

If you want to bring something funny to a soakfest, try a pair of PR's or FF's, a Nerf Flash Blast, or use the Oozinator. A shield, sling, and bag of water balloons would also do the job.

My experience with soakfests was mainly a collection of Blazers and Flash Floods facing off, with the Blazers having the upper hand the whole time except for when it was time to actually pull the trigger. After that point, it just became a game of whether the FFs could connect the hit then run quickly enough.
So basically, yay to high output. Other factors are nice too, range doesn't tend to be as huge a factor since people are more willing to get in close, even at the risk of actually being hit with water.

So, my preferences are:
1: The Hose
2: Any of the big CPSs really, maybe not a 2k since you'll spend half the game pumping, but 10x and higher with that much capacity is handy
3: SS50 because I love that thing and it deserves a place on every list
4: Flash Flood/AB
5: Any of the WW heavyweights do the job.
6: Water Balloons
7: One time I ran out of water balloons so I filled a bunch of sandwich bags with water and started throwing those. Not quite as effective, but in a pinch, they'll do.
8: If it starts raining, half your work is already done
9: The old XPs with their riot blasts are fun here. I always regretted being too ambitious with trying to mod both my MD6Ks (and in the end, breaking them), since they can do a heck of a jolly job soaking with their nozzle selectors taken off.

I realize this list isn't exactly comprehensive, there are just so many different ways to approach a soakfest. The key things to keep in mind are that you often will be working with distances shorter than anyone's maximum range, and the obvious that you want to get as much water on your opponents as possible. Whether that means you want to be the steady tank with monumental field life, or the kamikaze assassin with one high impact shot, that's not up to me to decide. What I will say is that I like medium/big guns with moderately high field life while using moderately high outputs.

Final list was made from your submissions! Here's how the community voted: http://hydrowar.wordpress.com/2014/10/0 ... -soakfest/

Please, if you have the time, also comment on the site because it increases traffic. For some reason search engines are really directing people to the pages that already have comments and likes on them. I will probably add a little more analysis to the page, but right now just putting the list up. Thanks guys!
