Great find-did you get the vulcan too? I still think the best deal I ever got was a silver 1200 for 4.50 + shipping off ebay.

You know, until about 8 months ago I was buying almost every nerf gun that popped up at thrift stores. And that's how you end up with 200+ nerf guns. XP Well not anymore.... sold 'em all.
Nowadays I only buy Nerf stuff that I can re-sell quick for some $. In my head, basically every gun I own was bought with the profit from selling other guns...more or less.
Vulcans are big, heavy and they rarely work. I see them often and leave them often. They're usually 8$ or more, they are always missing the ammo belt and/or ammo box and/or tripod, they are all over craigslist, and even a good working one I couldn't sell for more than 10-20$. No thanks! I'll stick to buying Stampedes, Longshot, Longstrike, Titan, and BBB.
*EDIT* I think I have seen 20+ Vulcans at thrift stores and I have never bought a single one. I bought one off of craigslist once, along with the odd ammo belt.
I will be opening the CPS 1200 tomorrow (even if it is horribly glued!??) and we'll see what needs to be done.

So I went around on a thrifting run, and I found some interesting things:
Image
A Storm 800 with a broken trigger and rust for 4$. A Storm Monsoon Force 4 for 6$, I was pretty confused by the dual reservoirs, I just don't know anything about these two at all.
Next:
Image
Another XP 105, for 5$. I was tempted (it seems to work well) but I have enough of these.
Now for the score of the day:
Image
A BNIB Super Soaker MDS for 5$. Just like the one I had when I was younger! Interesting how the box claims 50 foot ranges. I wonder how much I can sell this for on Ebay. DX?

Dang, I've kind of been looking for a 105 or something similar...

Should have picked up the 105 even if you already have lots. That big pump is useful for replacements, homemades, and Nerf guns. You could also sell it intact for $10-30.

A NIB MDS should get you at least $20-30. They don't sell very often, so you'll need to undercut whatever handful are up and may have to wait for the right collector.

Storms are always awesome, I picked up four of the Monsoon Force 4's for $3 apiece, two had mold but it washed right out.

Definitely had second thoughts on the XP 105 at the time, I will go back tomorrow and see if it's still there.
*EDIT* Yes, it was still there. Bought, de-stickered and stored.

I checked on ebay for NIB MDS, and I see 44.95$ + free shipping on Jan 27, and one for 24.95 (from Canada, no less) on Dec. 17th. There is currently one for 64$. I would imagine that in the spring/summer I could sell mine for around 40-50$.

Well I went back to my dirty little secret... value village, and I founds this:
Image
Now, it's just a Max-D 6000, but it's a purple color and a version I had not seen before. And it worked, too. I figured I HAD to buy it., so I did.
Moving on to my favorite value village:
Image
Damn you, Aqua Zone! Damn you! Taking my hopes with the sight of a large, familiar shape and then dashing it with the realization that it's not a real CPS.

This has to be the third Aqua Zone 1-3-5 knockoff I have seen. They are nice, big chunky guns, I wonder if I could use it for something?

Well I'm back from a rather (un)successful thrifting run.
I only went to two places- my local VV and Talize. At VV I was enraged to see yet another CPS 1-3-5 knockoff:
Image
Damn you, Aqua Zone !!!!!

Moving on to Talize, I found yet another lanard Stinger or whatever it's called. You know, the upside-down one. Left it there. I also found two Nerf Switchshots Max for 4$ apiece. I bought them because I know they are rare and hopefully I can hock them for a little $. They are actually water guns too, you know.

Did you check that 1-3-5-it looks way more real than the other 3. I noticed it was missing one nozzle but if that is real…

Easiest way to identify genuine CPS, no matter what it looks like, is to locate the 2 tiny holes in the PC case. Those holes allow airflow when the bladder expands and contracts, probably to prevent negative pressure on contraction most of all. A PC case in a knockoff blaster that uses a separate PC cannot have the holes for obvious reasons.

Sometimes the holes are hidden in the blaster shell. What's of main importance is that the PC case isn't fake (painted on), amongst other factors. (i.e. Air intake in the cap, cap design, etc.)

The 1-3-5 in the photo above does look quite genuine. Make sure you checked it for indents and logos, as well as the cap intake.

So I popped by the dustiest VV on earth and I found this:
Image
A freaking XP 310, for 3$. I just had to buy it! I've been wanting one for a long time.
It works great, but the nozzle variation is pathetic. I plan on drilling out a nozzle or two, see how much output I can get before the range drops.
Check out my Minus page for more soaker pics. ;)

I picked an XP 310 up at a Thrift Store near Minneapolis a year ago. Nice find. The 310 is a pretty good gun. I think we ended up using it in MOAB?

Yeah, in the chaos OHS round. I climbed a tree to get the last box cause I was stuck with an XP 70 with a hole in the PC. A 310 was in the box and it worked pretty well. I only ended up taking 4 shots, though - 1 to hold off Keith during the sprint for life and 3 when the Seals had zeroed in on the privet grove, but weren't too keen on going in. 310s are very, very light, you can cover a long distance at full speed with one. They are also small enough that you can easily crawl around through thick bushes with one.

A bit off topic, but I reallly liked that round. I would love to play something like that again at a future war. The 310 is one of my all time favorite selections for younger teammates.

I'd take a 150 over a 310 any day.
If you ever bother reading these, I worry for your mental sanity. :oo:
