Being a water warfare site, it is about time to have a thread dedicated purely to any and all interesting water-warfare-related websites out there.

Known communities and sites aside, this thread is really for tracking and sharing interesting websites members find that relate to any aspect of water warfare. This includes sites ranging from applicable tactics, interesting water-based technology, neat stock/modded/homebuild design, interesting facts or thoughts on water, itself, etc. Please do not post links to obscene, illegal, and/or other sites that use water blasters in dangerous/destructive activities.

Here are a few links (some may be familiar; some not so familiar). Add to the list whenever you discover something neat worth sharing. Soak on!

Water warfare @ Wikipedia

This link/entry has gotten buried for awhile and figured it might be a good time to revive interest in updating this Wiki entry. I definitely encourage anyone who feels they have content they can add to the Wiki to do so when they can.

Looks like something similar to the stream machines.

Hmm, I think I should try building something similar to those, they are useful even in regular combat if you have buckets/mini-pools or other large areas of water. With it being homemade, I can also take steps to prevent leaking (if the nozzle is facing downward) and can put a reservoir on it. (the stream machines are rather expensive)

On the water warfare wiki, I think I should modifiy and/or update stuff if I have time. I kind of disagree with some parts of it such as water balloons soaking muiltiple targets (they just make just enough of a splash with a direct hit to count as a kill in most 1HK/S games, but no more), and there are still games that allow hoses as turrets (and don't consider them unfair), since they can be disabled/flanked (which is slightly easier with muiltiple people), and in many cases there is often weaponry available that outranges a hose. (be it CPS/modded guns, water balloons, or WBL's)

Good points. Remember the slo-mo video of a water balloon hitting somebody? All the water's momentum forced it to just go straight into whatever it hit. No force is acting on the water to spread it out.

The hose points are good too. If you've got a problem with a guy with a hose, go somewhere else and make a kill.

I suppose a rivergun would be effective for base defense or fighting by a river. If you do indeed make one, use tubing that is small in diameter for more pressure and range.

I thought larger tubing on those kinds of piston guns was better for more surface area. (like the stream machines) Doubtful I'll ever be able to go on boat based water warfare though, I'm just thinking of those guns because they're simple, cheap, yet reasonably effective.

No, larger tubing is actually worse because there's more surface area. Remember, pressure = force / area. When you increase the tubing size, the force you apply to the pump is applied to a greater amount of area, and the pressure isn't as high as it would be otherwise. That means less range.

Stream machines with larger tubing size actually get worse range. I think the 2" Waterzooka got ranges in the forties of feet; the 1.25" Waterzooka got 50-55 feet; and some rivergun companies claim you can get 60 feet (and that's either a lie, they're incredibly strong, or they use very thin tubing).

High speed photo of a water balloon popping

I've seen the video of a water balloon being popped, but the still picture above is pretty neat, too.

Wayne Schmidt's CPS 2000 Super Soaker Page

For those who hadn't seen this page (which, I believe, has a lot of information from some discussion threads at SSCentral), it's a great page showcasing the CPS2000 and includes lots of pics as well as a full step-by-step CPS-chamber repair guide!

Great stuff!

I believe aspects of this video have been manipulated (i.e. fake), but it is funny to watch, nevertheless. Don't try this at home.
