I know that some would argue that the only similarity between these two guns is the fact that they're both medium CPS blasters, but whenever I fight my 1500 friend with my 4100, it always seems strangely even tech-wise. And yes, we can all throw around stats and deduce that one's better than the other, but I just want to know what the general personal preference is.

Personally, I'm a 4100 fan. I've only had mine since spring 2005, but I've never gotten more use out of a gun my entire life. I can't even count how many times I've needed to perform major surgery on it, but it always seems to pull through. I know that the 1500 has a better tank capacity by about 25 ounces and that it outshoots the 4100 by around 2-4 feet, but for me the 4100 just seems more versatile, especially with the fan blast drilled out. Also, I love the rugged, sturdy, balanced feel of the 4100. It just to me seems sturdier than the 1500 (that is until the crappy mk2 trigger inevitably falls off....)

Anyway, just wanted to hear other people's opinion on this. I can completely understand going either way, I just wanted to get a general consensus. Thanks.

Tough call... I'd take either, but have a very slight preference for the CPS4100 over the CPS1500 for two things: it has more nozzle selection options and it has a tracked pump. That said, I much prefer the CPS1500's nozzle selector since it's much easier to switch on the run and I do prefer the look of the CPS1500. Never cared too much about cylindrical vs spherical CPS-chambers. Ideally, I'd give the CPS1500 a third fan-setting and a tracked pump, leave the power and general shape alone, then I'd have my optimal soaker.

The 1500 has a significantly larger firing chamber, and total capacity is greater too. (i.e. when you use fill-pump-fill like you're supposed to) It is also just barely larger than the 1000, and probably shoots slightly farther. (I say probably as I'm going off the stats here at iSoaker) The outputs are similar, but the 1500 has the better shot time, which is still useful even if you're using tap shooting.

Problem is that I've used neither, though I voted for the 1500.

Really, the advantage of the Monster is the SC capability, the tracked pump, and the riot blasts. I'm not really a big fan of those (no pun intended), especially on guns that take longer to fill the firing chamber. They are really only useful at certain ranges, and in such ranges, you can still drench them with a 5x or 10x stream, though it'll take more time. Plus the 1500 is quicker and easier to switch nozzles with. For the tracked pump, those are pretty nice too, but free pump soakers tend to be more compact, and they'll stay fine anyway as long as you're being reasonably careful.

I personally like the 1500 more than the 4100. It's a pretty tough call, but I like the "all aroundness" of the 1500. I have used both.

I've only used the CPS 4100, and since the grass is always greener on the other side, I voted CPS 1500/1700.

The CPS 4100 has average range, fairly low shot time, no QFD, a broken trigger, and the worst pump I've ever used. Sure, say it's a tracked pump, but the fact is that it's not easy to hold on to, especially when wet.

Plus the CPS 4100 is fairly bulky, and I presume the CPS 1500/1700 would be shorter due to the spherical chamber.

I voted 1500. I don't really like my 4100s and Monsters, because they are extremely unreliable, and feel flimsy for a tracked pump soaker. The 1500/1700's only weakness to the 4100 IMO is the non tracked pump, and that is only a problem if you drop your gun or don't take proper care of it, so no problem for me. I only got to use a 1500 once, but it was long enough to convince me to try and get one.

That's funny, because I've only had one problem with my pump in my entire life. The pump seriously gets overly slippery for you? That's bizarre, it's never happened to me.

One of the biggest gripes people have with 4100s (besides the crappy triggers which don't take too too much to fix) is the grips that give people blisters, which I just filed off. The soaker becomes much more bearable after that.

Not too slippery that I can't pump, but it isn't too comfortable. The shape isn't comfortable at all, but just the fact that the grip is nearly parallel to the vector of movement means it's hard to pump properly when wet.

The plastic rod that connects the pump grip to the pump rod inside also broke on me once when I was unscrewing the screw to open the soaker. I have to do both repairs now...just need the metal to do so.

I don't own a CPS 4100, but from what I've heard from other people, the stats in isoaker for it and experience with my own CPS 1700, I'm inclined to say that the 1500/1700 is a better gun in a more compact package. (If only it had a track pump)

Terrifying, but oddly refreshing.

If it slips, do what I did, and sand perpendicular to the pumping direction with 80 grit sandpaper. I just don't like the flimsieness, and the lack of reliability. It feels a little short on range too, so the 1500 wins in my eyes. Seriously though, 80 grit. :goofy:

I didn't vote because it depends. Three of my friends and I picked up the second version of the 4100 and the triggers broke on us right away. Horrible quality. If it was the first edition or Monster I'd actually pick those over the 1500/1700.

Pretend its either a MK1 or a Monster, MK2s are virtually the same thing except for the low-quality triggers (which can be fixed pretty easily, there are quite a few guides on this site).

CPS 1500/1700 all the way! The 1500 was simply BUILT for my local fighting style. The thing is extremely versatile and has the range and power to challenge virtually anything. I'm with Silent Guy on the 4100 pump. The grip is terrible, especially when wet. In local duels, the 1500 has benchmarked with the 2500. Also, at least for me, spherical vs cylindrical makes a HUGE difference. The 1500 pc has power even after the gun breaks mortally. You can k-mod it in the 1500 or swap it into another gun if the 1500 dies. The potential for a swap is the real threat, as a 15K or 17K pc is first among spherical pcs. Put that in any mid-size CPS gun and you've got my current primary [1100] outmatched in power.

The 4100/Monster does have some better points, such as more nozzle selections and a fan-blast that can be turned into a 20x. However, it runs out of water faster than a 1500, even when Tap/Pumping.

All this does still depend on the user though. With CPS guns, equally skilled opponents may balance each other, even with disparities in range and output.
