I got the Splat Blaster! And... - la review

Post by SharpObjects » Mon Feb 20, 2006 6:26 pm

Well, its been a while since I've been here, I've been hibernating till season comes in. Anyways...

The Splat Blaster

Looks-
Well, it is yellow, and green. It's a shotty basically. I like it.

Price-
$10 US, not bad so it seems.

Capacity-
22 Ounces, its a small blaster.

Performance-
This is were I was really, REALLY disapointed. I pumped it by pulling back the lever, which was cool. While expecting a Flash Flood type blast, I got a kinda spitting type blast, which wasn't a blast at all. It says on the box "shoots 20 feet!". I usually take this with a grain of salt. For me, it only goes about 10 feet. I was hoping for a close quarters blaster, something NOT the broken trigger Flash Flood (which I like, but I absoutly dislike the trigger) I'm sorry Buzz Bee, but this definaltly gets a thumbsdown.

Either mine is defective or it is just naturaly bad. I hope it was just defective. I hope to have pictures soon.

~SO

By the way, it says Hydro Power, but it sure doesn't act like it.

Well, you can't expect an 11 ounce blast with a 1 ounce PC can you?? I expected it to be about like that. Could post a shot pic?

Well, I wasn't really expecting that, but something more powerful. I'll try to tommorow, as its getting too dark now.

Hmmm... interesting. Pics would be nice to see. I'm definitely curious about how it performs. Any more info you can provide would be great! I wonder when they'll be available in my area.

Sounds like the Splat Blaster is basicaly like the Waterball Launcher.

Guess I will intend to buy the WW Scorpion instead.

Hey, they took a stab at something never seen before. What did you guys think was going to happen? FF shots every time you fire? It wouldn't hold many shots that way. Maybe next year they can make one like this, but bigger and with a bigger, stronger pc so it will get more of a "shotgun" effect.

Yep, same here. I'm looking forward to the Scorpion. :soakon2:

Looks like my personal view of the Splat Blaster and the way it performed was wrong.

I thought that it would be a gun that you pumped about 10 times that had a firing chamber about 5-8oz. After you had pumped you just pulled a normal trigger and let loose, looks like this isn't the case.

From what I have about the gun (including your review), I'm a bit put off, mostly by the lever pump and trigger (if that's how the gun works). I woulfd have preferred just a normal pump and trigger, but that's how Buzz Bee Toys have done the gun, I'll have to wait for more information before I make my final conclusion on the gun.

I'm still after the Scorpion, I'm not bothered about replacing batteries. Hopefully I can find one.

Nice to see you back by the way SharpObjects.

Yes, I would have designed a pump action shot gun with a 3/4"-1" pump and a hydro power/spring PC in the handle.

Yup. Same here. Just ONE hard pump would be worth it.

I had a feeling right from the begining that this blaster would be a collosal failure, and I was right. A blaster that shoot's 25ft max would have been no use to me, right from the begining I knew there was absoloutley no chance of getting it (especially since a 2500 20x shot goes 30ft). Let's just hope the Scorpion has much better performance.

Yeah. I believe it uses Hydro Power right? What size is it? And how exactly does it work?

I don't see the point of buying a blaster that only holds 22 oz and only shoots 20 FT. The Defender is only about 10$ and it shoots and holds alot more than the Splat Blaster

I'm actually betting it uses a spring. It would be basically the same as the nerf gun, and I'm not sure if there's enough room for a hydro power PC.

Thanks, its good to be back.

Nope, just one pump with the lever, and pull. I like the concept, but the whole thing would have been better off with a regular pump. Pix coming soon. Working on it.

And it says hydro power on the box, and it smells like it (rubber)

Oh, ok. When you take the pics, just make sure to take one of the shot :;):

Like my sig?

Edit: It's extremely obtrusive and bright colored... maybe I'll shrink it down.

Edit 2: Aaaaah... much better :)

I find your sig distressing and annoying. ZOCCOZ has a good sig that is mild and not annoying, while using a pic. Use some less-bright colors, please? :(

 Fine.
From fire... to ice! Fits more with the water, ya know.

On topic: The hydro power is probably in the handle, right? Unless the handle in the reservoir. Maybe they made a cylindrical hydro power PC?
