CPS 2500 Review

Post by Long8503 » Sat Mar 05, 2022 12:49 pm

I’ve always wanted a 2500 and I finally have one! I finally have time to test it out further yesterday. The CPS 2500 is the succender of the 2000. The gun has 3 nozzles 5x,10x, and 20x. The body of the gun is similar to the 2000. It has a red tank unlike a purple tank, and the style still looks like a cannon. Let’s do the review!

Many people talk a lot about the 2500 because of its powerful, and versatility unlike the 2000. The output on this thing to me is good especially the 20x nozzle. It has a 3.1L capacity and a 650ml chamber I believe. It can take a lot of shots, I can pump the chamber to full 5 and a half times. The 5x nozzle has decent range and longest shot time out of the 3. 10x is my favorite nozzle in my opinion, it’s the longest range and can soak a lot too. The 20x is the biggest nozzle used for extreme drenching at close to mid range. I also love the tracked pump, makes the pump much more durable unlike a cps 1000 for example. However there are some flaws with it. The 20x is a bit weak, I understand that it’s still strong and not made to be powerful as the 2000, but it’s not as strong as some people say it is or strong as the mk2. Another thing is short chamber, sure, it makes it have more lifetime in the war, but to me I think it should have a slightly bigger chamber for its size.

Overall the 2500 is still fun as heck. But I just don’t enjoy it as much as other people do. The reliability of it is better than a 2000 as far as I’m concerned. The gun is still a fantastic gun for almost any situation.

85/100 Keep on soaking! :cps2500:

I will add the photos in the future :)

IIRC, 2500s use the same bladders as 2000 mk2s...and in theory you can swap them. In practice, 2500 PC clamps are glued. I want to say I achieved that swap despite it being glued (probably during that phase when I was swapping all kinds of bladders around just to see what would happen), but it's been so long I don't remember for sure. I believe the entire power difference between 2500s and 2000 mk2s is in the nozzle design.

If you've never owned a 2000 mk2, I would highly recommend getting one. The bladder won't pop like on mk1s and they can really take a heavy beating. It's also easy to service them, as the PC clamps aren't glued and actually the entire trigger valve is unglued, too. I cannabalized parts to keep 2000 #5 in top working order since it won the bladder lottery and had unusually good performance stock.

Some people have a lot of success with 2500s, but I only got average results, was kind of hard to get hits with them. You really need to use the 10x nozzle for that and it still only gets meh range for a big CPS. I remember getting outranged by 1500s and the much feared "1021" lol. Would still take a 2500 over a 1500 on style alone, tho.

I will def get a mk2 someday, a mk1 might be signifcantly more rare and a true collectible, but I literally cannot use it. It extremely risky even testing it out even once. Im sure a mk2 power isnt that weak compare to the mk1. 25 to a 45 psi isnt a MASSIVE difference. Ive heard of people swapping bladders and it works succesfully, which i might do in the future. Also i prefer a 1500, beside a 2500 it shoots further and its mobility is better.

I would tend to disagree with you Long. I’ve always found the 1500 to feel wrong in the hand compared to the 2500, although I’ll admit I’m the weirdo that finds the XXP 275’s handling natural…
If you ever bother reading these, I worry for your mental sanity. :oo:

Laramie tried to "de-tune" it compared to the 2000 MK2 by using the "swiss cheese" plastic block for lamination instead of the bundle of "straws" or plastic tubes and if you look at the 20x nozzle, there's a lip. At least you can bore that with a drill(and make your own laminator in the nozzle) and get closer to the MK2....
