Flash flood variants

Just wondering about a few things about ff's, one thing I'm wondering is if the ff is orange and has a blue reservoir, is it Max infusion? Or which version had less issues with the max-d valve?

All versions have issues with the Max D valve. In theory this should be correctable, but as far as I can recall no one has come up with a permanent fix yet. I also think all are Max Infusion, but I could be wrong, the first/green version may not. The orange and blue should be max infusion.

Most flash flood are max infusion, but I have seen green/blue ones that are not.
As for the Max-D valve, the springs rust and break, but they are so small and strong that I have not been able to find a suitable replacement.

The original, green Flash Flood was released before the Max-Infusion series and of not compatible with the Max-Infusion backpacks. The later ones are, but am unclear whether every subsequent re-release still included the Max-Infusion-capable cap. Max-Infusion-capable caps are larger and thread in the opposite direction to regular caps.

As for the Max-D valves, all Flash Flods used them like marauder already noted and I don't think any particular version was better in that regard.

The weird thing is that we haven't seem to have had the same problem with Arctic Blast/Iron Man 2s. I mean, the original Arctic Blast has been around for a good while now and I don't know of anyone having one break. Durability is an important component in choosing a gun, so I'd go for the Arctic Blast over a Flash Flood if I was buying, which is kind of a shame cuz the FF was rather potent. That gives me an idea though replace the Arctic Blast PC with the Flash Flood PC. That would be pretty good. Ah, I wish I had a garage or someplace with lots of blasters and tools for experimenting like that.

My Arctic Blast broke. I don't think many people have them so that's why you don't hear of it much. Loads of people bought Flash Floods. However the Iron Man 2 blaster apparently doesn't use an MD mech on the small nozzle, so that should be a lot more reliable.

Do the FF and AB have different PCs? I always thought they were the same.

If they use the same PC, they get awfully different PC volume measurements in my hands. I cannot 100% rule out measuring error, but still...

I am not sure if the bladder is the same or not (I think it's different) but the plastic shell is longer on the FF and yeah, as isoaker said, it has a larger PC capacity.

Thanks for the help guys! It has been useful,

just got this one off ebay, pretty sure its max infusion, its hard to tell as some websites keep contradicting each other,
but while I was snooping round, I found a version of the ff that is not mentioned on Isoaker.com

The Chrome version was sold by the now bankrupt store "The Sharper Image". I recall seeing them being sold for some ridiculous price for a Flash Flood and never ended up buying one. As for versions listed on iSoaker.com, I try to list what I know about, but I am sure there are many oddities and one-offs that would make it impossible to be truly exhaustive for all the models.

I know , it may seem a bit tedious but just even a one liner would do the job. There are already a few one off soakers on the website, such as the glass encased ss 50, its just nice to have on the website I guess

What kind of stuff did the sharper image sell? Interesting.

Sharper Image was sort of like Brookstone, but I always felt they were more geeky in a way, carrying more gadgets and toys.

Interestingly, they still appear to be online, but I haven't seen a store in years.

The silver/chrome version of the Flash Flood is noted on iSoaker.com, but under "Known Version Colours". See: Super Soaker Flash Flood

Other unique items like the glass-encased SS 50 are listed on their own page because I actually have one. :goofy:
