Being well into summer (well, for the Northern Hemisphere, anyhow), many have had some time to try out various stock soakers available.

Based on the current crop, what new soakers would you recommend for general water warfare purposes?

This thread is for current stock-soaker recommendations only. Older models seen on eBay are not valid suggestions for this thread, nor are homemades. However, recommending a stock model for potential modding applications is acceptable.

This thread is to help other members get ideas on what the group thinks are decent investments this year. I'll add in my choices after I think about it a bit.

Soak on!

I recently got a Flash-Flood and I'm pretty impressed with it. Feels like it would be a great backup weapon, if only I could get a strap on the darn thing. I've seen some nice looking mods for it too. If anybody wants the mods, I could dig em up and post them here.

I got a Blazer at Toys r Us about two months ago but I dont use it very much since I got a CPS1500 and CPS2100 of ebay.I would say that the Blazer it's the best stock gun of the year :D.Some say it's the FF but the springs in the triger of th FF brake a lot.I went to Toys r Us the other day and they still have blazers.

Blazer, Pirahna/Lightning, Scorpion, whatever the biggest PreCharge is. Possibly the Flash Flood, though it's a sad commentary on the state of soakers when that's one of the best of the year.

Unfortunately, that's about all of them :p . Not many new soakers this year, most are re-releases of older ones, with slight changes :( . However my favorite is the Water Warriors Blazer. I haven't tried the Krypton (big pre-charger) because it was $25. Is that righ, or too much? I really can't trust K-Mart, they raise the prices often to cover their slow business :( .

You can make a water cannon or water balloon launcher for less than $25. Honestly, that's where my $25 would be going. :p I don't actually know if $25 would be worth it for a Krypton, since prices around the nation vary. Check if other stores in your area carry them, and if so, compare prices.

I found a Krypton at my local BJ's (kind of a warehouse club type store) for $15, a pretty good deal for a surprisingly effective and neat soaker.

True, but its a step up and in the right direction from last year. More CPS soakers and the start of some bigger guns, up from those dinky ones of 2004.

This year was generaly more a step back from last year. WW only has the Scorpion as the "new big one", while SS replaced the Devestator(CPS) with the Overload(Air Pressure). The rest in both lines are small new ones or re-issues with some changes.

[edit]: I recomend the Blastmaster 650 reissue.

Blazers are pretty much impossible for me to find now, they stopped carrying them just a few months ago? Either way, if a Blazer cannot be found, I would prefer the Flash Flood, while it's big nozzle is nothing near what the legendary CPS's can do, with a bit strategy and luck, you can still give them a good soak.

Sharper Image has those, too. You can get them for only $30 now. However, this could just be a July sale. We will see...

I've still got to get one(chrome, reminds me of the old battlestar weps) now that I've sold my mod'd '05 FF. We'll see how this one takes to being bored to 5x and removing the FF's debris screen. I've also got a bored 2x defender waiting for that pack(same name as the smaller one?). There's my .02, Brad

FFs should be around $20. i can't believe thos ffs were $30. However, they did also have the aqua pack but they are $7.99 at cheap prices so really the gold ones were a ripoff (unless you got them $30 for BOTH):p

@dragonclass: I thought that was you that sold that Flash Flood. I looked at that one. Too bad shipping for me was $23.

@ Soaker n00b: $30 is actually a really good price, especially considering that Overloads go for that much. You get the best of both worlds.

Rook: Yea, it went to Germany for $15.50+$21.84 shipping. Hope he likes the mods as much as I did.

Soaker NoOb: Those FFs are actually chrome, you're seeing reflections. The standard '06 FF is $20-25, but doesn't include either pack. The Sharper Image ones are $30-40, but you get the 100 oz Aquapack too. Luckly, living in Portland, my base isn't that far from the downtown SI. So, I don't have to pay for shipping from the SI website.

See ya, Brad
