Hands-On: Super Soaker Bow & Arrow

Post by isoaker » Tue Aug 09, 2011 9:10 am

Recently acquired a Super Soaker Bow and Arrow. Thing came NIB, but turns out the upper arm of the bow had actually cracked and was glued back on. Nevertheless, these items are harder to come by these days and it makes a nice addition to the collection.

Before now, never fully understood how this thing was supposed to work, but now I've a better understanding. Basically, the Super Soaker Bow and Arrow is a pressurized water blaster that is pumped up using the small pump seen angled slightly upwards on its frame. The rear-side plunger where an arrow would go is actually the trigger which must be pulled for the nozzle to be opened. The bow arms and string really do not offer any real force and are there for the role-playing element and not there to push water forward.

At the moment, I have no desire to actually remove this item from its box so only limited stats will be measured (no range and output stats).

For now, enjoy these pictures of the Super Soaker Bow and Arrow.

Soak on!

If it is broke, why so hesitant to remove it from the box? Also, fyi, your link says, "Box and Arrow."

Could you also post the text on the back of the box? It is kinda tricky to read.

If you ever manage to get your hands on a rare item that has no real soaking potential in actual water wars and it mostly intact in its original packaging, you can go ahead and open it up. Me, though, prefer to keep it boxed even though I had to make a repair to one of the arms.

As for the yellow text, it reads:
DON'TS
1. Do not unscrew water tank when it is pressurized. Always hold trigger back until all pressure is released prior to unscrewing bottle.
2. Do not "over fill". Bottle should not be over 2/3rds full. There must be air space to build up pressure.
3. Do not shoot other liquids. Use only clean, clear water.
4. Do not overtighten water tank. Hand tighten lightly only.
5. Do not shoot anyone in the face or eyes.
Fixed the link typo.

OK, I get it.

What does the other text say? Sorry, I like box text for some reason on these old guns.

PM me an email address you prefer to use and I'll email you a full-size image so you can read the text yourself. It's a lot to type and not easy to type out the table below the yellow text area.

Interesting you can still find this kinda stuff, especially NIB. Now for the painful question... how much did this cost?

Not as much as what CPS2000s go for. Got it for $50USD (+ shipping)

Just pushed up a short review on the Super Soaker Bow and Arrow. Limited statistics included, but things like output and range were not measured.

Enjoy this glimpse into a less-common novelty water blasting item!

One of my friends had these when I was really little, before I ever had a Super Soaker. I remember him showing me it inside and thinking it was really cool, but I never saw it used in battle.
