Most Common Blasters in Your Engagements
I have been reading over some old war stories lately and it got me thinking about how every team has its own feel on what good water weapons are. It's difficult to think of XN, the Water Militia, and the Dominator Wars without thinking of XP 150s or Monster Xs. Obviously, financial resources, as well as a bit of random luck (what's available) has something to do with it, but there always going to be guns we more commonly use than others. Perhaps your team even has an SOP on this.
What weapons have been most common to your team over the years? What weapons were most common among your opponents?
I am a veteran of 12 engagements with 20+ people, I will be doing some research on this subject while spending some time with my family, then I'll get back on here and post my reply. I'm eager to read your answers and why certain guns were most used.

Re: Most Common Blasters in Your Engagements
For the 8-12 people I have consistently played with over the past 8 years, I would say that smaller CPS-based blasters have been the favorites (CPS 1000, 1200, 2100). As these have become harder for many people to find, the newer CPS blasters have replaced them in popularity (Flash Flood, Arctic Blast, Hydro Cannon).

Re: Most Common Blasters in Your Engagements
I went back over my war stories and wrote down every gun we used in the 12 (soon to be 13
) wars. Here are the most popular weapons according to Red Scorpion:
#1 CPS 1200
#2 CPS 1000, CPS 2100, CPS 1500, CPS 3200, SC 500, SS 100 a2
The most popular weapon was used almost 50% more than the runners up.

It's amazing how much those soakers hit the sweet spot. Large blasters like the CPS 2000 can be extremely effective is used properly, but any idiot can pick up a CPS 1200 and go on a rampage. Definitely a sweet gun.

Re: Most Common Blasters in Your Engagements
Most common here is a mix of post 2006 blasters and CPS's. XP's are very rare and are usually unused. CPS's dominate the field, but occasionally someone will pick up a FF, MD6k, Tiger Shark, etc. for better mobility.

Re: Most Common Blasters in Your Engagements
CPS's are almost always picked first, which is a randomized bunch from the:
10k, (2) 12k, 2000, 2100, 2500, 2700, 4100.
Splashzookas are also popular when available.
Anything else is typically taken if the CPS's run out (which rarely happens) or if someone wants to go light. Of course, you can also "go light" by filling up a CPS to lesser amounts, CPS's are expected to take a combat role and shoot quite liberally which requires more water to do.

My duels are usually just MD3k vs. Bottle Blitz, or Iron Man 2 Blaster vs. Bottle Blitz. These are small enough to just grab, fill, and duel with. My brother doesn't let me use the big nozzle on my IM2 gun.

With me, probably...
1. Gorgon
2. Avenger
3. Hydro Cannon
4. CPS 2700 (I only bring it out for big wars)

Re: Most Common Blasters in Your Engagements
I will go back through all the old RM - Waterbridge battle reports and see what I can find. I am pretty sure that almost every battle report had a listing of what each person used. There are 24 such reports, generally in the 5-15 participants range, so it should provide some good, if dated, data. Guns from 2008 onward obviously were never used since the last Ridgewood war took place in 2007.

Are the RM battle reports available anywhere in Soakerdom? I remember several being posted individually, but am not sure if a centralized archive exists anywhere. It would be fun to read through those when things are quiet at work.

I have an idea, as far as war stories are concerned, and I'd like to make a database where you can rate them, etc. or at least have a contest so that people go back and read some of the old ones in order to generate future discussion. Isoaker's incentive system is doing a good job of bringing up new ones.

Re: Most Common Blasters in Your Engagements
After searching through what RM reports are online (and a few reports that only exist on paper), I was able to make a frequency list. This is not a complete list, as not every report contains data on which guns were used, but it is good enough. This is how many times each type of gun was used in Ridgewood wars:
32x - CPS 2500
25x - CPS 2100
20x - Flash Flood
11x - XP 310
9x - CPS 10/2100 (pc swap integration, 1000 pc in 2100 body)
7x - CPS 21K (k-modded)
6x - Thunderhead (off brand)
5x - CPS 12K (k-modded)
5x - CPS 1500
4x - XP 240
3x - CPS 3200
2x - CPS 2000
2x - CPS 4100
2x - Defender (nozzle-drilled)
2x - Orca
2x - XP 270
1x - APR 3000 (onboard reservoir APH)
1x - Monster X
1x - Overload
1x - Unknown air pressure gun
1x - Xenon
1x - XPS 310 (modded)
The stock CPS 2500, CPS 2100, and Flash Flood were the workhorses of the wars. The 2500 was the favorite of the RM, sometimes fielded exclusively. The 2100 and Flash Flood were widely available and also reliable loaner guns, utilized heavily by both sides. Also high on the list was the indestructible and forever shooting XP 310. Some modded guns were used frequently - the CPS 10/2100 integration and the CPS 21K early on. Our 21Ks were pushed literally to their limits and thus they disappeared after the 2005 season. Stock 1200s, 1000s, 3000s, and modded 15Ks were surprisingly never used at all, although available. 2000s were never used in a ranked war, but 2 in a skirmish. No homemades were used in a ranked war, although one was used in a skirmish.

Re: Most Common Blasters in Your Engagements
Wow. The CPS 2500 is a great gun. It's interesting that you used it so much, because I can only think of twice: Vermin War 2, and Dominator War 2 (although that was XN using it) that we used 2500s. I think a lot of it depends on what guns you can get your hands on. I think the Flash Flood is great. Especially with the metal screen removed, and with the additional backpack. That thing will shoot ridiculously far.

Re: Most Common Blasters in Your Engagements
I'm rather surprised that you guys used the other CPS's; 12k/21k/10k and 4100, 3200, etc. less frequently. FF's are good for mobility, but they do break easily, are a chore to power-up (though not as much as the CPS 2k), and are less powerful.
Re: Most Common Blasters in Your Engagements
FF's were the best gun available in stores at the time. The 2006-2007 battles tended to have higher turnout, meaning more people had to be supplied or bring their own guns. Most of the newer guys brought their own guns, FF's for the most part. As for the 2100s, they were mainly loaner guns that we had a bunch of and they were durable. Stock 2100s, other than MK2, are tanks. I would have thought that 1500s would be used more often - they fight on par with 2500s and don't have the nozzle selector leakage or trigger issues that 2500s face. But, I think 2500's look cooler and that was definitely an element when players were selecting guns from our arsenal. 2500s were pretty dominant and well-suited for our type of warfare - durable, well-balanced, huge tap shot capacity, range, firepower, field-filling capable, and good-looking. Backpack guns were used sparingly for good reason - all the running. I would imagine that running 10-24 miles over the course of several hours with a hard, heavy 3200 backpack would just feel awful.

Re: Most Common Blasters in Your Engagements
We mostly use lower-end blasters when we battle. I've never got a chance to use my CPS 2700, because all our other blasters are much weaker, and would get steamrolled by anyone using the 2700. However, I now also have a CPS 1200, so maybe in the future, we will finally get a chance to fight with CPS power (Not to mention the community war, where I'm sure anyone who doesn't have a CPS blaster will most likely be eliminated pretty quickly.).
I'd say some of the most popular blasters used in our battles are:
Arctic Blast
Secret Strike
MD 6000
MD Secret Strike (Not to be confused with the one above.)
Vanquisher
Equalizer
Sneak Attack
Pathetic, I know.

Re: Most Common Blasters in Your Engagements
2500 triggers are an icky mess; Larami made a few mistakes with the CPS line and the triggers were one of them. Still, with a proper repair job, it should last long enough to be useful.

Re: Most Common Blasters in Your Engagements
I missed 2 wars! I forgot that there were 12 Vermin Wars, not 11! Also, we had a Winter Water War once. Ok, so after finding those war stories and calculating things out. I am only going to write out the most frequently. We used a wide variety of water weaponry between 1999 and 2006. Here are the most frequent
13x CPS 1200
7x SS 100 a2
6x CPS 2100
5x CPS 1500
5x CPS 4100
5x CPS 1000
4x CPS 3200
4x SC 500
4x Max D 6000
Some of the guns were k modded or collossused or whatever.
Sinc I had to go digging through my old war stories, I'm gonna post some pics
