Super Soaker story on ABC's 20/20 (Aug 6)
Super Soaker story on ABC's 20/20 (Aug 6)
It appears that there will be a story on ABC's 20/20 this coming Friday (Aug 6). From what I've heard, Lonnie Johnson was interviewed as well as Chris Reid, a once much more active member of our community famous for his photos of himself posing with his massive Super Soaker collection.
Don't know exactly what will be covered, but should be neat to see, anyhow.

Wow that's cool. Chris Reid... That name sounds familiar. You say he used to be a community member? What was his username?
That wouldn't be the first time Lonnie Johnson was interviewed. Last night I saw a replay of a "How I Made my Millions" episode on youtube, he was on that.

Chris Reid? Sweet! I remember that dude - he was pretty awesome.
SEAL, I believe his handle was usually something like, 'x Chris Reid x,' or something simple like that.

I'm probably going to forget to watch this since at that time I'll be coming home from a concert (Mayhemfest) around that time.
Hopefully this will focus well on water gun development and not mention too much on what SS is doing now lol.

That's weird... That's my cousin's name. Even the last name is almost the same.
Darn it! I missed it! I was at summer camp!

I missed it too. But I'm sure you could find a rerun on youtube.

Good find! Amusing that a fake Super Soaker ended up in the video identified as a real one.martianshark wrote:I found it. http://www.hulu.com/watch/169531/abc-20 ... s-fortunes
They also talk about the Super soaker shooting a continuous stream, but featuring the Shot Blast. Doh!
Well... they tried, I suppose... neat to see an functional CPS2500 in the vid as well...
Nice to Chris Reid on there, though. He's one cool guy.

Interesting biography of Johnson and demo of Chris Reid's armory. Of course, the beginning was pretty lame and there was no mention of D'Andrade either. (Who really does not get enough attention when people release articles/TV specials and what not on water guns, though of course BBT gets no mention at all either.) Overall, too much focus on the SS brand and not enough on water guns in general. The SW commercials are almost as lame as the SW blasters themselves.
Oh, and Chris Reid's collection could easily destroy the stock of any retailer's.
