Have a good look around the site and read the reviews. Specifically, the CPS series is what you're looking for.

The Flash Flood and Arctic Blast have similar ranges, though I would suspect the FF has a little more. However, they are still considered close range weapons in the grand scheme of things, when you add up all the top line weaponry from the CPS line and modded CPS's, and homemades.

The FF has more range then the AB, but if you're going for power, the cps series is what you're looking for. With their 10x(and above) streams, they can more than overpower a FF blast.

The greatest ranged soakers are the old CPSs. All the old classics. See if you can find a CPS 2000 on ebay. Alternatively, I've heard that the CPS 1700 achieved abnormally long range. Good luck.

The CPS 2100 is a fine water gun. But $80 is way too high a price. I wouldn't pay more than $30 for a CPS 2100. For $80 you could buy a better water gun like the CPS 2500 or make an even better homemade water gun for comparison.

When modified the Arctic Blast and Flash Flood can get more than 40 feet of range if that's what you're going for. Drilling the nozzle larger should be all you need, and if not, you could try some other things.

Youtube won't tell you crap on range. A steady stream will never possibly achieve the range of a 2000 (nor the output and power), its just not physically possible w/ the nozzle size they use. Do some research - range is dictated by stream size, given sufficient pressure. A larger stream stays together better than a smaller one and is therefore less affected by air resistance. So comparing the nozzle and pressure of a CPS line blaster vs. current blasters, the CPS's win by a long shot.

Of course, no water blaster will get you near 1/4th the range of a good water balloon launcher... =)

Those videos with the CPS 3000 and CPS 2000 aren't representative of the true performance of those water guns. They pumped the CPS 3000 4 times and the CPS 2000 3 times. While the pressure is relatively constant as they are part of the CPS series, it does take a few pumps to build up to maximum pressure. Have them pump each 10 or 20 times and the performance will be much better.

Even if you couldn't see how few pumps were made, there are always outliers. Some water guns shoot farther than the average and some shoot less far. Just because one doesn't get what you want doesn't mean all don't.

Look at the HydroBlitz, and you'll notice he pumped it 10 times. Take the 2000, and he pumped 3 times. If you triple the range of the 2000, you'll see that it'll be longer even though you still pumped it less.

Edit: The vaporizer definitely isn't going to cut it. As a low-powered, low-output, piston blaster, I doubt you're going to even get 25ft. on that thing.

Remember, if you can't find a cps, you can always make your own. ;)

Since you don't have any water blasters yet, I would go with something easily accessible, like a Flash Flood, Arctic Blast, or Orca for starters. (or wait for next year's blasters) Of course, they don''t have such great range (and some of them have pretty low capacities), but they are somewhat easier to pump. Perhaps you might want to familiarize yourself with smaller, lighter blasters first.

Water blasters are actually pretty simple compared with a lot of stuff out there. (i.e. paintball guns) The concept is pretty simple: a pump sucks water through a one-way valve (when you pull the pump out; the whole thing is sealed and only water from the tank can go in), pushes it through another one-way valve (when you push the pump inward), which goes into the compression chamber (which can be either a really thick "balloon" or a sealed chamber where the air inside gets compressed), and when you pull the trigger, a valve opens so the water can be pushed out. I hope that makes sense.
