CPS 2500 Review

Post by DX » Tue May 24, 2005 4:08 pm

I just realized that I haven't contributed all that much in terms of content, so here's a review!

CPS 2500

Some Stats: [All ratings are based out of 10]

Shot Time:
5x: 3-5 seconds
10x: 2-3 seconds
20x: 1 second
Capacity: ~3 liters
# of pumps: 18-21
Mobility:
With an inexperienced user: 3-5
With an average user: 5-7
With a veteran user: 7-9
Intimidation:
Against an inexperienced enemy: 7-10
Against an average enemy: 5-7
Against a veteran enemy: 5-0
Overall Power:
Against an air pressure gun: 9
Against a small CPS: 9
Against a medium CPS: 8
Against a large CPS: 7
Against a modded gun: 5-7
Against a homemade: 3-6

The CPS 2500 was released in 1998 to replace the CPS 2000, and they look very similar. Same design, same color pump and grip, surprisingly similar ranges when shot next to each other. The 2500 has a red color theme and 3 nozzles, rated 5x, 10x, and 20x. While good for dumping out loads of water, the 20x nozzle is not all it's cracked up to be. Since the 10x lasts longer and shoots further, it is advisable to use that for high soakage. 20x only makes it out 30 ft or so, but my 10x nozzle has just barely reached 50ft and my 5x has come close to that. The 2500 is well built and durable. It is a very reliable weapon that rarely breaks and has a strong tracked pump. This soaker is powerful enough to go head-to-head with any large CPS or modded gun. It even has enough range and soakage to hold its own against a homemade water gun, although each shot doesn't last long. You can waste the water very quickly, so I would reccommend tap shooting to prolong the time between refills. You can go for more than an hour without the need to refill, even in heavy combat, if you only take short tap shots. The grip can sometimes give blisters, but it takes at least an hour for this to happen. As for weight, the average user may have some difficulty, but an experienced user can really run and move with this thing. It is much easier to be mobile with a large soaker than most people think.

Pros:
3 nozzles
Very durable
Great power and long range
Strap
Pressure Gauge that doesn't break over time

Cons:
Lots of pumping
Fairly short shot times
Heavy until you get used to it

Mods for the CPS 2500:
Colossus
Check Valve Freeze
Pump Reinforcement

Positions for the CPS 2500:
Almost any position, even scouts and skirmishers if you are experienced enough

Nice review! As always, just want to be sure it's cool with you that I re-post it on the appropriate review page on iSoaker.com.

(Sidenote to everyone: to prevent me asking permission in the future, please put in some additional sentence saying I may use what is written for other section on iSoaker.com so long as the writer is properly acknowledged. Being an open forum, I won't just assume I can re-post content, but good stuff should get a more permanent home. At the same time, if you don't want your work reposted, that's fine, too, and just state it. I realize some may prefer using what they've written for their own site(s) and not have it appearing on iSoaker.com pages.)

Feel free to re-post any of my future reviews/articles on Isoaker.com, unless stated otherwise. That was only the 3rd review I've ever written, and I think I'll use that format, as it works well. I've had my 2500 since last summer, which actually isn't that long when you think about it. [I think Iceman's 2500 lasted for 8 years] ???

8 years, give or take a little with proper care and maintinence. The CPS 2500 is truly one of the pinnacle blasters of all water guns. On the battlefield this will make rookies run, and I have been the one doing the chasing :goofy: Proper maintinence is very important on any type of stock gun.

In fact I will write a review on that soon, all the good lot in storing, taking care of the gun, reparing and strengthening, etc. Isoaker, that will be available for your use and mine only :goofy: All around a great gun. A rare gun, but a powerful one. Rookies, watch out and be careful around someone with one of these. The way to defeat a 2500 user is numbers, and medium to heavy firepower. He or she is dead meat without escorts, smart military strategy will defeat one; it isn't totally uber and godlike, only when the user does not let the weaknesses of the 2500 give the enemy an advantage.
