CPS 2100 Review

Post by DX » Tue May 24, 2005 7:39 pm

Now I will attempt to review a *gasp* stock CPS 2100! :goofy:

CPS 2100

Some Stats: [All ratings are based out of 10]

Shot Time:
The size of the main nozzle is disputed, the current acceptable size is around 5x-7x: 3-5 seconds
Capacity: ~2 liters
# of pumps: 15-20
Mobility:
With an inexperienced user: 5-7
With an average user: 6-8
With a veteran user: 8-10
Intimidation:
Against an inexperienced enemy: 5-7
Against an average enemy: 3-5
Against a veteran enemy: 0-2
Overall Power:
Against an air pressure gun: 8
Against a small CPS: 7
Against a medium CPS: 6
Against a large CPS: 5
Against a modded gun: 2-5
Against a homemade: 1-4

The CPS 2100 is a relatively new gun, released in 2002, and is still available in certain stores like Sports Authority. The 2100 has a very compact design, a point proved when examining the internals. Additionally, some of the gimmicky ridges do contain vital tubing, a word of warning for those who aspire to add a strap. Yes, it comes with no strap, but this gun is pretty light and if you really need one, it is not too hard to add. Almost all the problems of the CPS 2100 can be fixed via modding. Especially in need of improvement is the range, which reaches 35ft at best. Some call it a good sniping blaster, but really, 35ft is hardly a sniping range. The good thing about the stock soaker is that the output is slightly higher and the shot time is a bit longer than the CPS 1200 and 1000, the soakers most commonly used as benchmarks for it. The CPS 2100 does not have the best amount of shots per tank, so utilize tap shots and conserve water. The 2100 is fine as a stock soaker and can hold its own against other small and medium CPS blasters, but avoid larger CPS guns and all modifieds/homemades unless you have advanced tactics and veteran battle experience.

The CPS 2100 is unique among water guns because of the wide range of mods you can preform on it and the great effects they have. This, the most commonly modded gun today, was as of last year called the "Unmoddable gun" and few had succeeded. The pioneers who failed before most likely had the Mark 2 version, one of the hardest guns to mod. There are 3 marks of CPS 2100s; they are well known and well documented, as the founders of the 2100 mark system are none other than myself and Nibordude! Anyway, it is possible to improve the range of your CPS 2100 from 35ft to an astonishing 65ft, and possibly more! You can up the output from ~5x to 10-15x, and give your 2100 more than one nozzle.

Whether you choose to leave it alone or turn it into a beast, the CPS 2100 is a great gun with great potential!

Pros:
Very durable
Good power
Good shot time and output
Light and compact
Easy to mod

Cons:
No strap
Range could use improvement
Fairly small reservoir
3 Marks to confuse modders

Mods for the CPS 2100:

K-mod
Check Valve Freeze
Multi-nozzle mod
Range Extension
Pump Reinforcement
Strap Addition
PC case removal or replacement
Reservoir Expansion-I personally wouldn't do this one, simply because it makes your gun less-well balenced and looks quite strange

Positions for the CPS 2100:

Most positions except HWO and sniper, however, modding yours opens up every position

OMG AN UNMODDED 2100!!1!11!11!1111

Wow another great review. So it is in some stores? Hmmm. I love how you can mod it for flexiblity.

(If someone finds one and buys it, I'd gladly buy it from them perhaps and give them the money they paid. PM me before any deals)

Cool! Another good review! Nice!

Ok, ok, I'll get caught up and push these newer reviews onto the proper pages this eve.

I should note, however, that I'm not sure I will be including the mod-aspect of the review onto the review page. While modding is around (as is building your own soaker), for reviews I tend to prefer sticking strictly to the discussion stock models as those are what are available to the widest group.

The mod notes I'm considering pusing to the 'other' section, though, if I opt not to include them on the main review page.

Hope you understand.

Of course I understand about the modding part, and in truth I couldn't write this review without any modding references. After all, the 2100 is a gun that I've done a lot with [I've had 5 modded 2100s total, have 3 currently]. I also left a lot out, like the sting factor and 90 degree recoil that you can get. This is the only gun I've seen that has real, raw sting factor, nothing else comes even close. Also, the recoil can be so strong that the gun jumps from level to parallel [0 degrees to 90 degrees]. Feel free to leave out any of the modding references, as I could write about them in much greater detail in other articles.

Additional articles talking about your modding experiences would be nice to read. I understand where you're coming from when you wrote the article, especially with you as one of the major pro-modders when it comes to the CPS2100. Thanks for understanding my view as well.
