The XXP275 - The best all round gun ever?

Post by Nick » Mon Mar 07, 2005 10:39 am

Well, I bought this beasty off a friend about 2 and a half years ago for £20. It has rusty screw on the nozzle which I fixed, and the pressure gauge was broken. One of the slot nozzles had also been damaged. Apart from that, it was 100% fine. I now turn to it every time I need an effective soaker that can destroy the average CPS, and also a soaker that is reliable as hell and NEVER breaks down or gives me any hassle. With both the large nozzles selected I can take out anything up to Monster class. Does anyone think this is one of the best overall blasters ever invented?

I have one, and I love it. Not too many pumps, good capacity, good soakage, many nozzles...the list goes on. :) Here's my full review, by the way.

I liked your review Spinner. As far as my experience with the XXP 275 I've never used it. I have, however used an XP 250. My friend has one. I think the 250 was what the 275 was based off of. If I do in fact decide to bring Hydrowar back I'll write a review up on it.

The XXP275 is a great soaker for its time, but I can't call it my fav soaker. Its got a great pump volume and power for an air-pressure soaker, but the top-mounted trigger isn't the most sturdy device plus the fact you can't pump and shoot. Again, 'tis a great soaker, but I still believe there are overall better ones, at least for me.

Have you noticed that all the guns made in the 1994-1997 time period had incredible pump volumes? The XP 150, the XP 105, XP 250...I could go on. The main thing that made Kryptonite so dangerous was the XP 150 pump system. I don't know how much the pump volumes are for the Helix and Vaporizor, but when it comes to piston operated water weaponry I think that the pump volume has alot to do with how good the gun is. I still consider pump volume a critical element in terms of what I look for in a gun. The Arctic Shock would only take 2 pumps to pressurize if it had the same size pump as the XP 150, that's 8-12x less than it takes now. The Storm 2500 also has a great pump volume, which is what makes its larger nozzle (pump n shoot) such a threat. I'm getting waaayy off topic though. This doesn't even really have anything to do with the XXP 275.

ICEBLUECOMBAT - XXP275 Review

My XXP 275 review from 2003. I agree with isoaker that the XXP 275 is good, but not that good to be the best airpressure or general soaker. It can keep up great with a small CPS, but would not destroy it. Unless the CPS is a lemon. Fact is, the XXp 275 has shrunken PCs compared to the XP 250 or SS300, which kindof limited its potencial. Believe it or not, the smaller XP 250 has more pressure due to the larger PCs. The XXP 275 is still a very exelent soaker (I would say the second best Airpessure soaker after the SS300/XP300 and equal to the XP 250), but the atmosphere in this thread overates it abit.

From what I've read of your reviews the XP 250 has more range. The 275 gives more soakage.

yes, the 2x/2x dual nozzle gives it a good relative soakage. But then again, the 3X/3X has a lower soakage which suprised me. Since the PC capasity remains the same, soakage is either 24 or 48, depending on what the viewer would prefer. Back then in 2003 I went with 48, but now I would say 24 and the 2Xs are probably smaller than what was promoted.

The XP 250 has more pressure as in power(I actually never mentioned distance in my reviews). The XP 250 PCs made the XXP 275 PCs look small. If you put both soakers on a 3X single nozzle, and fire them it will be clear that the XP250 has more force. With Airpressure Waterguns its always about PC size. The bigger the size, the higher the power.

Airpressure Powerwhise, the rank would be somewhat like this:

1st place: SS300 (3 Very Large PCs)

2nd place: SS Airpressure Poolpumper (4 XP150/XXP275 sized PCs)

3rd place: XP 250 (2 Very Large PCs almost SS300 sized.)

4th place: XXP 275 (2 very slightly bigger XP 150 sized PCs)

5th place: XP 150

XP 250 on ebay - Unfortunatly not in good condition.

I know I will say this again but I really want an XXP 275. The sooner I find one the better. From what I have heard it is a very good gun. It may not be the best XP but it's pretty darn good from what I hear. From the shot images I have seen of the gun its awesome!
