Wow, that sounds great. Pics? I thought the mk2 looked way better, but camoeing it like SEALs looks the best.

The white with yellow/blue Lightning I got a few months ago had a 5X nozzle... also, how many versions of the Lightning/sphinx are there? I was only aware of the yellow Lightning on isoaker, my white lightning, and the black lightning on ebay. The AP/HP Sphinx, and the Piranha, while very similar, are both actually a different shell.

Um what? You are saying that the Sphinx/Piranha are essentially Lightnings?

The shells are significantly different. Not just the shells but the reservoirs too. I would like to compare the internals to be sure; however if you compare the Lightning/Piranha/Sphinx to the Blazer/Expedition and Orca/Gorgon, there is a large degree of difference there. The Orca and Gorgon (HP) are identical inside and out. Same with the Blazer and Expedition. The only differences are the plastic colours, the stickers, and a different nozzle. It's not like certain ones had glued/screw caps, different strength valves, etc. The molds are different, and while I don't own a Piranha (Who does?) or Sphinx (and can compare them to each other) , I would guess the internals are slightly different too.
Is the CPS 1000 essentially the same gun as the CPS 1200? Would you say yes?

I believe the internals and casing are identical over all of the guns I listed and so all count as marks of the lightning.

Note how the Sphinx is very close to the Lightning, except for the reservoir shape and strap points. The Piranha is a completely new mold.

When you compare them side by side, the Piranha is clearly a different beast, at least on the outside. The 'mk 1' lightning (which is strapless) that is shown here is likely the base on which the Mk2 Lightning and later Sphinx mold was made. It has occurred to me that the version of the Lightning that I have (with strap attachment points) is likely such a version, as the shells are practically identical. Isoaker really needs to get his "Body version colours" updated for water warriors...
I'm ok with the Sphinx being the same as a Lightning, that much is clear now. However, I am unsure about the Piranha being a mark of the Lightning, just as I am unsure anyone would be willing to accept the CPS 1200 as being a mark of the CPS 1000, or 2500/2000, 3200/3000 etc. Buzz bee has done enough direct reshells with new colours/names, and super soaker is no less guilty. I would just like to give them a little tiny bit of credit where it's due.

if you look at the Piranha shell closely you can see that although the styling has changed slightly, the basic shell is the same shape and could be swapped around the internals of both with no difficulty.

another WW gun does this the Hornet and Cricket are the same gun internally (I had both)

OK so I went on a big thrifting loop and returned.... with nothing. I was pretty surprised; normally there would be SOMETHING worth buying, but there are only so many Max-D 5000's a guy can take (My number is between 0 and 1). I did see an XP 110 (4$) and this item though:
[I might need a new photo sharing service... will work on adding the pics-this one is of a BNIB XXP 175 for 7.99$ with a 26.99 Zellers sticker)
OK, so I have now seen 5 XXP 175's at value village. I bought the very first one for 5$ and passed on all the rest up until this point. This XXP 175 is brand new in box, though... I just don't think it is powerful enough or rare/valuable enough for me to jump on. I haven't been paying attention to ebay prices in a while though... can someone tell me otherwise?

Recent acquisitions include a Nerf Super Soaker Alpha Fire, Zip Fire, Tidal Tube, and Freezefire. Sadly, I could probably take them all on with a Super Soaker XP20/220 (an XP215 would last for awhile, but admittedly, it would still run out of water before the Freezefire). :goofy:

mine still needs fixing

Which one? You should start a new thread for this though.

Wow, everybody's getting 300s now. How much did you pay for that, darthmeow? Also, congrats to martianshark on the 2500. They're great weapons. Wouldn't recommend using the 20X anywhere but in soakfests, but the 10X wrecks. (At least on my examples.)

I unjammed a check valve in a 1200 once. A small piece of the PRV got stuck in it after I removed the former. Fortunately it was the one that keeps the water from getting pushed back into the reservoir, so all I had to do was cut out the filter screen and reach in there with some tweezers to extract the piece. I don't know how to unjam the other check valve without getting a hacksaw though, sorry.

It was a gift, but I think it was around $90. It was actually new in box!

It took months of waiting, and a 5 hour round trip, but for 20 bucks I scored some CPS goodness off craigslist:

They both seem to be in fine working order. I will be testing these out in a few days, and am looking forwards to it.

^Nice! I like the 2001 color scheme for the 2700, much better than the 2000 one I have. Was it already missing the nozzle cover?
