Was the classic Super Soaker Rocket of the same design (not necessarily size and colors though) as the Monster Rocket? I can imagine that Hasbro might've dug up designs from around a decade ago to create the novelty of the year.

Hmmm... ripped image on my Super Soaker Rocket page: see Super Soaker Rocket. I'll fix that later today. At any rate, while I think the principle is the same, the original Super Soaker Rocket looks like a single solid piece, not a two-parter (one part inflated).

However, I haven't ever seen one in reality. Perhaps Chris can shed some light on it.

The rocket is assembled, but it doesn't require inflation. I had one before it broke on me...

Hmm... interesting. That's different than the one-piece Air Hogs Hydro Rocket design. Then again, the Super Soaker Rocket was made 'back in the day' so not surprising, just interesting.

Which parts needed assembly?

Quite frankly, I don't remember. I was a wee lad when it was in my possesion (younger than nine). My dad was the one who put it together for me. I wasn't exactly mechanically adept at that young of an age.
