Got a chance to test out the Rocket.

Very well done pics of the watre fight, espeically the point blank shots between the Monster X and piston soaker (maybe a stream machine). The flight of the Monster Rocket looks higher than I thought (or maybe my idea of 100 ft is too short), so I might get the Rocket later this summer.

What is the difference between the normal MR and the special edition MR?
The third photo I think is funny. At least both the shots were not clear on their faces.

It's actually red, white & blue instead of orange and blue. I actually couldn't get the launch mechanism to work. Had to take the bottom off and trigger it manually.

Forgive me if this has already been dealt with - I didn't view the photos, pictures take a long time to load on my computer - but can the MR be fired at a non-vertical angle?

I remember that we discussed this at WWN a month or two ago and the conclsuion was that it was necessary for the Monster Rocket to be aimed vertically. I'm not completely sure why, but I think that it's similar to how you have to launch a bottle rocket vertically. Gravity must be keeping the water in the right position.

Even if you could aim it non-vertically, I wouldn't recommend doing so. It could result in serious injury, not to mention not being particularly effective in soaking your opponent...

I'd launch it at an angle over my enemy's heads, thereby showering them with "exhaust." I wouldn't aim it at people.

Not 100% sure how long it shoots out water, whether for the duration of its propulsion or only to get it started going up. Thus, I'm also not 100% sure how well the "exhaust" method, as you put it, would work.

In that case, what do you think is the minimum angle necessary for the Monster Rocket to be fired correctly? I'm guessing around 55 degrees, maybe as little as 45 degrees. The idea of showering them with exhaust sounds like a cluster bomb, perhaps its a feasible idea.

I don't think that it would be very feasible to set up and blast one of those things off in a water war, unless it involves a dozen or so or more people. The pumping (over 100) is ridiculous for a mere "rain" of "exhaust."

There's a level thing inside. If it's more than a few degrees off, I don't think it'll launch at all. That might've been our launch problem.. we circumvented it by taking it apart and launching it manually. I really don't think it'd injur someone to get hit, unless they fell because of the shock. It's pretty light. If it was somehow fired at a 45 degree angle, it'd go a couple hundred feet, and it'd also be impossible to aim. Don't think of the rocket as a weapon.

That was pretty smart of Hasbro to put a level in. That way, moron kids and their unsupervising parents can't sue them if they got injured from getting hit by the rocket.
Hey Chris, how does it come down? It didn't go as high as I thought it might. How many times did you pump it up?

I think that the one effective use of the Monster Rocket in a major battle is as a singal rocket (like a flare). However, the number of pumps needed to fire it sort of dampens this role.

If the battle involves enough people, pumping fails to become a big issue.

And by the way the pumping mechanism looks (sort of like a bicycle pump), it's probably a lot esaier to put in a lot of pumps than a traditional soaker's extension or track pump.
