Nobody's actually modded it yet; so far we just have concepts.

Actually, you're only a sitting duck if you're too stupid to run and put some distance between you and the enemy to pump up. That is highly unlikely though; in order to get the hit in the first place you have to be able to quickly charge at the enemy, get within range where they won't be able to dodge, and fire it up. If you fire at dodging distance, the lack of shot time means you'll have to get very lucky, your shot will have to be spread out (strafe the stream), or your enemy has to be ridiculously slow in order to get the hit.Nitro123PG wrote:I would say the Point Break is more useful than the Hydro Cannon. The HC is the Magstrike or water warfare. Pump it up, pull the trigger to unleash a rain of darts that WILL hit the enemy if your aim is half decent. But after that half second of glory, your a sitting duck unless you have your secondary with you.
Same tactic as with the FF, Pulse Master, and bigass short-shot homemade cannons. Charge, shoot, and RUN!
I don't even know if I'll end up getting a HC. I'd much rather spend the money picking up CPS blasters on eBay.

Oh. In the Nerf wars I'm in, it's one hit and your out, so charging is suicide unless the enemy just fired their Nite Finder or Pistol Splat. Yeah, you can just charge while they reload, but most of them use clip system guns, and you can't tell how much ammo they have unless they're using the clear clips from the tactical vest. My tactics usualy involve stalking them, and than I close in for the kill with my Firefly, I hate close quarters in Nerf, and I stay out of it when I can. It only takes one dart...
Okay, sorry about that, back to water guns. I've been using the Pulse Master the wrong way all summer. Ehehe... Mabye I'll actually use the big nozzle this summer... I wouldn't buy a HC until someone mods it. Depending on the complexity of the procedure, I may or may not buy it. :/

Actually, you can't see your ammo even if the clips are clear. Most of the clip is inside the gun.

True, but you can see the ammo in the 35-18 darts drums, which is the main "clip" used in wars. 6 dart clips are for backup since everyone around here has the Raider or Alpha Trooper.
Re: 2011: Good or Bad?
Nerf is almost a completely different animal entirely, one with arguably more dynamics than water warfare. (i.e. The difference between indoor/outdoor wars, and the difference between wars with stock and modded/homemade blasters is much greater.) Trickier reloading, higher range (achievable with modded/homemades), and trickier shots are the main differences from water warfare, but these differences give much dynamic changes. Also, as far as I know, Nerf has never released transparent clips, though they do have the transparent magazines that come with the tactical vests. (Even then, it's very difficult to see how much ammo is remaining unless you're the one wielding it.)
I generally only play indoor Nerf wars, and the CQB of it is amazing. We permit mobile cover which leads to quite a lot of hilarious shenanigans in our games.
HC mods can vary tremendously. If you don't want to do too much work, then a backpack, reservoir removal, and relatively simple bladder mod can work. However, if you go the extra mile and expand the PC case and switch out the bladder itself, you can probably get some good capacity and power with the blaster. A nozzle mod is also a given. It's probably more work than its worth, I guess.

Re: 2011: Good or Bad?
Agh. %95 of all "wars" I've been in are outdoor Nerf wars, and about half of those were 1 vs. 1 duels. I'm new to water wars as a hobby...
I've repaired two guns, so I have little experence with their internals. A HC mod would have to wait if it is so complex. I'll probably have to watch a video of the process to make a final decision.

If I remember to take pictures, I'll make a writeup for you.
By the way, my Shot Blast is almost complete. Writeup coming soon...
