Everything Awesome on Water Warriors
Re: Everything Awesome on Water Warriors
I guess I am one of the few people who doesn't like the Vindicator then, haha. I really, really do not like the grip configuration because it puts so much weight strain on your firing arm. The Vindicator is designed for straps and I do not fight effectively with straps, to the point where I had to take the strap off a 250 in order to use it at all.
I rate the Gorgon very highly because I am used to having one with output that tops mid-level CPS. According to Stephen's data, if I drill another nozzle, my Gorgon will also acquire range higher than mid-level CPS. It is also definitely dead-even with mid-level CPS without necessarily switching to the 10x. That was only done for fun, to try and hose each other in duelfest when one got in range. Quad burst and the middle nozzle were sufficient in dueling with a 1000 and 4100. The Gorgon had to retreat sometimes, and those guns had to retreat sometimes.
Perhaps the Vindicator is more powerful than the Blazer. I've been impressed with the Blazer's performance at Moab and in my Orca, where it is clearly superior to the Orca PCs. The 2005 Blazer (I guess it is an mk2) is definitely better than the 2003 with its revamped nozzles. Problem is, I don't own a Vindicator, so I can't test it against the others. I'd like to see someone drill one and compare its higher nozzles against a Gorgon's.

Re: Everything Awesome on Water Warriors
well it may be a bit off topic but I would love to get a Water Warriors Spinx for loaning out and using as a backup to my 300, it hits 40' has a powerful 4x setting and only weights as much as most lights XP's

DX, I agree with you on the Vindicator's handling. For me, the problem is primarily grip/trigger discomfort rather than having to use the strap. It's been better after greasing the valve and trigger mech, but still isn't great. I'd like to try out a Vanquisher (CPS version of course) to see how it compares.
Still unhappy that I missed the Gorgon from last year. It was right in front of me a few times and I simply refused to get it. =/

While not perfect yet, perhaps the most awesome thing about the Water Warriors line is that our small community of ~100 active members has been able to contribute and affect products that end up in the hands of tens of thousands of users. While there is still room for improvements, really can't complain too much in light of the fact that they definitely do take our input into considerations, but have other limitations which prevent them from meeting them all.

Re: Everything Awesome on Water Warriors
I actually strongly dislike using the Vindicator as well; I just said that it seems to be the most powerful WW blaster. I agree with CA99 though; the balance doesn't bother me nearly as much as the awful grip. I can barely fit my finger in between the trigger and the......part in front of it (
). You can't tap-shoot with it at all; the trigger is too stiff for one finger, and obviously if you have trouble fitting one finger in, forget about two (that's what she said!). I don't think the balance is that bad; I don't think you need the strap either.
As for the Gorgon, I was mostly talking about stock, but if it really can hit mid-level CPS range with a nozzle drill, I guess it could be more powerful than the Vindicator. Hard to say because I don't have one (though I thought one was being given out as a prize or something... Huh), but I can say that it didn't impress me that much at MOAB, where I used one and fought against them.

Yeah I just got back in from yet another 45' range test on my Gorgon In case anyone wants to know, the drill bit on that nozzle is 3/16th's of an inch.

Re: Everything Awesome on Water Warriors
What sizes are the gorgon's original nozzles and which ones did you drill out to what size to get ten and five x oncoming storm?

I should stop procrastinating and go drill like right now.

Re: Everything Awesome on Water Warriors
I have owned both guns. My Vindicator clearly hit 40 feet every time on one nozzle. The most powerful nozzle on my Blazer, which is second to largest, could hit 37 feet. The Blazer's "semi-tracked" pump was a lot easier to use than the fully tracked pump on the Vindicator. In fact, I'd say it's one of the smoothest pumps I've ever used. It's also a lot easier to fire accurately with while on the move.Duxburian wrote:I guess I am one of the few people who doesn't like the Vindicator then, haha. It's basically an issue of power vs ergonomics. Are you going to be running for your life, sneaking up on people, or performing flanking attacks? Well, I'd go with the Blazer. Are you going to be fighting stand offs from behind trees, walls, hills, etc? I'd go with the Vindicator.
That would be my advice to the general public, but as always, if you have a serious preference then let your preference overrule my advice; because nothing matters more than how a blaster feels in your particular hands.

Re: Everything Awesome on Water Warriors
I would have to say the Gorgon and Vindicator both are powerful WW's guns I think I would be just as good with a Vindicator as with my Gorgon. and probably the only person here who would be better with one than a light CPS

I think it's clear that we love the Blazer/Gorgon/Vindicator. I personally like the Hydra Pak and Vanquisher for their sheer capacity.

Re: Everything Awesome on Water Warriors
I have a broken lightning back at my parents house that I'm fixing up for the oncoming storm. It was a pretty good gun back when it was working. Pretty much like a smaller Blazer or a better/~cps alternative to an XP 310.

So yeah, I think I know where to find a broken lightning. And soon I will be A FIRIN MA BLAZER at some poor, inaminate object.
