Hands-On: Water Warriors Ultimate Vanquisher

Post by isoaker » Sat Feb 05, 2011 12:46 pm

Acquired a "few" new blasters recently. As such, there are a bunch of reviews in the pipe. Had a moment last night and took pictures of the Water Warriors Ultimate Vanquisher. The Ultimate Vanquisher is definitely about the same size as the original Vanquisher if not slightly taller due to the addition of the Ultimate System attachment points. Of course, as noted in other threads, the Ultimate Vanquisher is now apparently air-pressure based as opposed to the original which used a rubber bladder. However, I haven't had a chance to fill and test things yet, so I can't even really comment on stream performance yet. I hope to find some time today, but we'll see.

Enjoy the pics for now!

Water Warriors Ultimate Vanquisher review posted. Need to do range testing still, but that'll have to wait until the snow clears.

Enjoy and soak on!

*bump

Weird, I never took a look at the stats of the Ultimate Vanquisher until today. 175mL is pretty weak by BBT standards and I'm surprised how much has changed. Less pump volume, less reservoir capacity, and more weight. Kind of strange for what's supposed to be the exact same blaster running on air pressure instead of CPS.

Looks like the Ultimate Vanquisher is a no-go. I can't imagine the pressure chamber performing very well for that capacity and for its shape. The Gorgon and Sphynx seem to be much better options.

Indeed, the Ultimate Vanquisher is probably the blaster that got affected the most from BBT's injunction. Due to the size and shape of the opening in the front-side chamber, seems like they were only able to put in a relatively small hard-shell PC into it, thus resulting in the low PC volume. Weight is likely up since the Ultimate Vanquisher has the added plastic for the connectors and may have needed to be slightly structurally reinforced for stability when mounting additional blasters on top or bottom.

The Vanquisher probably wasn't a good candidate for air pressure conversion, though I think they might have chosen it for its design and handling, and its shape seems to lend well to the Ultimate system. However, the casing in the front seems to be sufficiently large to contain a better pressure chamber, so perhaps manufacturing and/or other practical limitations may have had to do with the small chamber.

The Blazer/Expedition would've made for an interesting conversion, though the results probably would've been very similar to the Gorgon.

The front chamber's shape is good for a PC that expands, but when you've got a fixed opening (the forward tank is a single-piece AFAIK, you can only push in so big of a solid PC. Perhaps they could have tweaked things around to give the internal PC more space, but likely in the time between being served the injunction and wanting to ship out orders, compromises appeared to have been made. Unfortunate, though, since the original Vanquisher had a decently large PC capacity.

I've found the Ultimate Vanquisher to be a rather large step down from the original design. The only reason I ever use mine over the original is due to a horrendous screeching noise associated with a check valve. I'll take less power over hearing damage any day! :P
