Hands-On: Water Warriors Gorgon (Hydro Power Version)

Post by isoaker » Thu Mar 10, 2011 2:15 pm

As with the Water Warriors Sphinx (UK Version), the Water Warriors Gorgon (Hydro Power Version) was actually released in 2010 before BBT got the injunction against rubber-based bladders. While the full review is still coming, I've now pushed up pictures and most statistics on the Water Warriors Gorgon (UK Version). Rest of the review to come soon with range testing needing to wait for warmer weather and me with more free time during daylight hours.

Enjoy and soak on!'

Edit: formerly known as UK Version

On the US version, the fan nozzle was replaced with... another regular nozzle.

There seems to be some typos. The title calls it the Hydro Pressure version. Also:

The trigger, itself, is pulls smoothly and the grip area...

The reservoir on the Water Warriors Gorgon seems to hold slightly more water that the Gorgon.

\Streams produced have great, solid feel to them.

Indeed... shows what happens when you type late at night and don't proof read. :goofy:

I never liked the pump handle design for these particular Orca-based blasters. The absence of a pressure gauge is moot; even for casual players, the gauge only tells 3 states which can be inferred from blaster usage anyway. (And the green light is not perfectly accurate; it activates when just below maximum pressure.)

Absence of pressure pressure gauge is moot for some users, but it does also mean that the blaster no longer contains batteries and is slightly lighter in terms of initial dry weight. Also means no wires on the inside to have to deal with, either.

While reading the review, I got the impression that the absence of the pressure gauge was implied to be a negative thing, haha. (Though it's supposed to be neither, as there's probably always going to be someone around who likes it for every enthusiast who finds it to be an annoyance.) In either case, at one point, I gutted out the pressure gauge on my Piranha (it was almost unreadable anyways; too dim), and to be honest, the change in weight was too little for me to notice at all. A pair of AA's is really very little compared to the 2-3L of water that the thing has to carry; too little to be noticeable for most users IMO.

The wiring is a good point. After getting excessively irritated at the wiring inside a friend's Storm 750, I ended up ripping it apart and not even bothering anymore with it.

I should note that the pressure gauge, which requires additional tubing and pipes, has created an unreliable point in the past for leaks. The Orca you sent me years ago had that problem and because of the leak, the blaster (oddly) would not pressurize at all. It was an easy fix for me, but likely caused big problems with the market. More complications means more chances for problems to happen.
