Hands-On: Water Warriors Ultimate Explorer

Post by isoaker » Fri Feb 04, 2011 10:51 am

Got my hands on some new blasters recently, one of them being the Water Warriors Ultimate Explorer!

I'll admit, I was a bit sad to hear that the Explorer appeared to be based on air-pressure tech. However, while a Vindicator-type PC would still have been better, I can't say I'm too disappointed now that I've actually held and tested it out. While the PC seems to push out only a little over 150mL (about the same volume that the Super Soaker Defender could push), somehow the stream performance seems very good, packing a rather surprising punch on its largest setting. The reservoir holds about 1650mL (~53oz).

Granted, haven't really gotten to play around too much with it just yet (plus I still need to write up a full review on the last blaster I took pics of), but hopefully can pass along more info and pics soon.

Soak on!

I was never very surprised that it's air pressure, given its size. Anything more specific than that on the stream? It could, perhaps, push out a good deal of water with a slightly larger nozzle and looks to be a nice replacement to the XP 270 and similar blasters.

No, nothing more specific on the stream just yet. Haven't had a chance to do any output measurements yet. When I do, I'll let the group know. Hopefully will get a chance sometime this weekend. Of course, there are more things in the pipe as well, but all in due time.

I have an old vindicator bladder from when my vindicator broke. Do you think it would be feasible to replace their plastic chamber with the bladder? Since they seem to have quickly swapped from elastic to air, it should be possible to go back to elastic with a balloon bladder or LRT.

It just might work if the new plastic chamber is shaped exactly like the bladder. I hope so.

As I mentioned earlier, the plastic air bladder is shaped similar to a CPS bladder and is nested inside the reservoir. Obviously, it uses an intake tube but the relatively decent performance could be attributed to higher pressure and/or higher diameter internals. I was at Wal Mart the other day and when I opened it up, I thought it was CPS until noticing that the "bladder" was actually a plastic air PC.

It really doesn't matter how the PC is shaped. The only best way is a relatively round shape that protrudes from the top of the blaster and feeds water directly downwards instead of via an intake tube. Good surface area also matters, so an ideal air pressure PC would smoothly transition to the bottom and be relatively flat at the top.

Here are some of the output measurements I recorded for the Water Warriors Ultimate Explorer:
Smallest nozzle: ~27mL/sec (~0.9oz/sec)
Largest nozzle: ~90mL/sec (~3 oz/sec)

Not a bad performance, though shot times are on the lower size due to the small size of the PC. 'tis unfortunate that BBT is not using rubber chambers in these blasters.

Review of the Water Warriors Ultimate Explorer posted. More stats measured, but database needs to be updated. Missing stats (except for ranges) will be posted soon.

Enjoy and soak on!
