IT'S WAR! McCain versus Obama

Post by isoaker » Thu Jun 05, 2008 9:27 am

In light of the upcoming US general election (I mean, who can avoid hearing or read stuff about the presidential race), it came to mind that neither candidate nor party has really made any clear statements regarding their thoughts on water warfare! :goofy: Moreover, I also started to wonder if we put the two front runners in a man-vs-man soakfest, which one would likely come out on top or would their respective strengths and skills end up leading to a virtual draw? Could John McCain with his military experience out pace Barack Obama's youth advantage or will Obama force McCain to change into a dry set of clothing after being hosed down? For sake of argument, we'll give each candidate the same access to the same class of water blasters.

Sure, this is glancing along the political threads, but heck, as long as members don't get too heated over their preferences, this is one subject I'd like to explore more.

Sidenote: names were listed alphabetically; not based on personal preference. I'm still undecided on this one. :goofy:

Obama does play basketball and exercise a lot so he would probably be more physically fit, but you're right about McCain's military smarts. I say it would be a draw.

Obama would steamroll McCain in a water war. At McCain's prime it would have been very different but his war injuries apparently prevent him from lifting his arms above his shoulders. McCain is old too, old enough for people to worry about his health. Obama's in rather decent shape. I don't think it would be fair. McCain's military experience would be a plus but he's really in no shape to do much physical activity.

Let me say too that if they were leading armies of water warriors it would be very different.

I'd say that Obama's youth and fitness would probably lead to victory over McCain - in an open area. Pit them against each other in an urban or jungle area, and I think McCain could probably pull it off...he's got that aging warrior, old Rambo thing going - I think he's capable of one last glorious battle. Mutual destruction at worst, win at best for McCain in close quarters.

Fun and interesting thoughts above! Yeah, it's true that it'd be another story if this were about McCain and Obama leading a water warfare squad in battle. However, there's nothing quite like a good mano-a-mano war, IMO. :goofy: As well, terrain/environment would also likely sway things in one or the other's favour. As water warfare is often a more physical exercise, Obama probably has an edge thanks to his youth. However, I'm pretty sure McCain could hold his ground quite well. For me, it's a coin toss, but slightly biased towards Obama for a one-on-one battle.
