I want to build and maintain a listing of the words used around the world for "water". (Some characters sadly display as character mappings instead of true symbols due to forum processing)

All I get for Russian and some others is вод&#1072.
Why is that?

The numbers and such are character mapping codes. It's annoying, but that's due in part to these forums disallowing true HTML content from being posted.

iSoaker, I stress again how much time you have on your hands. :goofy:

Nice list though, and very interesting to look at. It's amazing how different people can have different names for the same thing, and yet, if you look closely, you can also observe the similarities. The development of language has always intrigued me.
