CPS 3000 LRT mod

Post by TheSoaker » Mon Nov 10, 2014 12:15 pm

After I had replaced the bladder in my CPS 2000 MK-1(http://www.waterwar.net/site_wwn/board/topic6645.html) I had some extra CPS 2000 MK-1 spec LRT lying around so yesterday I opened up my CPS 3000 which was only getting low 30s at the time and I had enough LRT to make a new bladder for it. After removing that horrible plug and clamp assembly on the end of the stock bladder(which took me 2 days to do), I crammed it into the new LRT and installed the clamp. Then I installed the LRT in the CPS 3000 and closed everything up. I filed my bathroom sink with water and dipped the hose into it and commenced pumping. the LRT expanded perfectly at the front first then the back. I could now sense the raw latexy power emanating from my new weapon. I then proceeded to set it to the 20X nozzle and fire it into my shower. judging by the sound of the water hitting the wall of the shower it seems to be on par with my CPS 2000 which sounded exactly the same. no I have not range tested it yet but I did fire it outside and I know for sure that it DEFINITELY! shoots way farther than low 30s I have no pictures wither but I will range test and take some today. If this worked right I should now have a CPS 2000 MK-1 with a nozzle selector and a backpack reservoir!

Dude, I told everyone way back in the day that the 3200 (Animal, Colossus) with some LRT is a beast. I never got 50 feet, but I definitely got mid 40s on par with 1500s and 2500s but with more output. I'm looking forward to hearing your results.

M4 I thought Animal was left stock other than the black paint, and I also thought that Colossus used inner-tubes around the stock chamber and not LRT.

Back to OP you need to range test it. Finally what was the pressure rating of your LRT?

Oh yeah, you're right I did use innertubes not LRT. I imagine that the effect is pretty similar though. I also think that the nozzle selector could be improved to reduce unnecessary drag.

The operating pressure is 30 PSI.

I am planning on removing the nozzle selector and replacing it with a brass nozzle.

And It's done!

Pictures!

It looks like a normal CPS 3000:

But what's this in there?:

A brass nozzle! (10X):

I went outside and range tested it and it's getting mid 40s which is a HUGE improvement and the lamination is very VERY good. I will post shot pics soon.

So it's a single-nozzle gun that looks like a stock CPS 3000 on Typhoon but hits mid 40's? Not bad at all!

I'll never understand the nozzle configuration on the CPS 3000. I mean, it's fine that the largest nozzle is for the 3-way Typhoon, but then it goes 20X-5X-10X unlike practically every other super soaker ever made.

Soakinator, the 3000's nozzle layout makes perfect sense to me, 5x was for general combat and a quick twist left or right could allow you to quickly react when an opportunity presented itself to punish someone.
