The MXL already has a fill gauge so I'm not sure why you'd want to add in another pressure gauge to it. As well, you need to be a little more specific on things. There are a lot of general power-enhancement-type mods that are posted around that could be used as a general guide to increasing an MXL's power. However, simply stating a plan to mod to increase power is too vague to get specific help. As for 'effective' mods, that really depends on how skilled you are when it comes to doing the modification. I'd recommend doing some reading first on some other threads and articles over at SSCentral first to get some basic ideas.

oh...where is this fill guage (pic please?) and is it the same as a pressure guage?

Here is a close up picture of the Monster XL's fill gauge.

For CPS blasters, some PCs have fill gauges, letting you know how much water is left in the PC. For the MXL, as the chambers fill, the reddish plunger at the end of the CPS chamber moves farther back. Since the MXL has two chambers, there are two plungers, each one viewable on their respective side of the soaker. Fill gauges are not quite the same as pressure gauges. CPS chambers get pressurized from the expansions of the rubber chamber. The pressure produced is roughly constant, thus a fill gauge makes more sense. Filling the PC more doesn't significantly increase output, but does increase shot time. For air pressure soakers, pressure inside the PC is the more important factor that determines how well a stream fires, not how much water the PC has (well, can't be empty :goofy: ). The more pressure available, the harder the stream hits.

Thus, in general, air-pressure soakers have pressure gauges while CPS-based soakers have fill gauges. That all said, I'm not quite sure what system the electronic meter on the WW Blazer, Lightning, and Piranha measures.

Why do you want a pressure gauge? For a CPS-soaker, the pressure of the chamber when emptying is fairly constant, thus seeing pressure doesn't give much info about shot time or performance.

You don't need one.

It will be more hassel than success.

You'll probley brake the MXL too.

The MXL fires an almost full strength shot after only a few pumps. However, the shot is very short if one only pumps a few times. That's why it has a fill gauge, not a pressure gauge. It reaches firing pressure quickly thanks to the CPS system, but one needs to know the fill level to get a better idea how long the shot can last.

@ultimategamr: this place isn't a chat forum or instant messanger. Please try to use full words and complete sentences. Shortened words don't just look sloppy, they may also result in your messages being misunderstood or not taken seriously.

Typos and some misused grammar and punctuation are alright, but very short messages with words being further shortened can get annoying. Hope you understand.

Soak on!

No worries, but I'd hate the boards, sites, or articles to look like MSN, YIM, or AOL-type conversation transcripts. It'd look horrific and extremely hard to read.

If you or someone else has a steady hand you could bore-out the largest nozzle(s). Using a 5/16" bit, I turned my '02 Monster X's 11.5 into a 17x but did not drill out the lamination wall(shower-head looking section) in the middle of the nozzle. Other people's opinion might be welcomed to whether it should be drilled or not(the nozzle and/or lamination wall). As for the wall, there's another right by the valve opening. Just a thought, Brad
