Why has this thread gone without update for so long, iSoaker?

The CPS 2000 MK1 was $39.99 - I know that for a FACT I remember handing out the money for it like it was yesterday

the oozinator was $24.99- i remember because of all the crap i went through to get the money to get it (ahh... youth)

I got my Oozinator on clearance for $6 lol. No one wanted it (no surprises there) and there were so many on clearance.

This thread was both half-forgotten as well as half-paused since putting down purely a list of original MSRPs without at least also factoring in inflation would be misleading. Moreover, beyond inflation, there has been a recent significant (>50%) increase in the cost of raw materials for water blaster manufacturing that well exceeds the rise of inflation. The one other limitation is that I do not have a verified list of actual MSRP. Prices stores set are not always in line with the actual suggested retail price (some stores put items on sale while others mark them up. Then there's the range of prices people have been willing to pay (e.g. how much various blasters cost on eBay).

I'd be open to trying to compile more info (I think some others have done a lot of work in that area already). That said, if there's a good list of prices and price ranges available that another is willing to maintain, I'd prefer to link out to it than rebuild something that exists.

I hate to see this forum/"isoaker" brand die out.. I think it just needs a revamp.. in my opinion whats hurting is is the move from isoaker to waterwar.. You should focus more on the collectible aspect of soakers rather than the water wars done with them. Although there is room for both..

Also inflation is completely irrelevant with MSRP because the MSRP is labeled when the soaker is manufactured... and obviously after a year or 2 they are no longer manufactured or sold.

Hopefully people arent that stupid :/

What he means is that people might wonder why an XP 150 costs half as much as a Thunderstorm… etc.

You are confusing two things here. There is iSoaker.com, my primary website that focuses on commercially available water blasters. Then there's the online community that uses WaterWar.net as one of its places to interact. They are separate entities (only just happen to both be on web servers I manage). iSoaker.com is my corner of the water warfare world while WaterWar.net is really more the community's place.
As for the actual collectible aspect of water blasters, in reality, that is a really niche area. Those who collect them do so for the love of water blasters in general and don't usually think of blasters, themselves. There are really only a handful of true collectors. Many members here have good-sized collections, but they were usually built with the purpose of using blasters in battles, not just for the sake of having them. Not much else can be added to cater to the subject of water blaster collection apart from trying to compile as much information of every type of water blaster by every company ever made. I try to cover the major manufacturers, but there are actually so many other water blasters on the market that it would be exceedingly difficult to gather all the information (let alone actually physically collect them). If there is a specific thing you think would make a good feature addition to iSoaker.com, I'm open to hearing it, but whether it can be implemented or not really depends on how much work it entails.

Uh, the fact that MSRP is labeled when the blaster is manufactured is precisely while one can use inflation ratios as a means to help compare blasters made in different years. While inflation statistics are not perfect, they do help bring price comparisons between models made in different years more realistic. That said, implementing an automatic converter for allowing comparisons is currently beyond what I know how to easily do, but it is something I have in mind that could be added one day.

I'd like to add that the whole reason water blasters exist is so you can battle with them! I really see no reason to collect them if you're not going to even use them (unless it's something valuable like a NIB Power Drencher, XP 300, etc. then I can sort of understand.). Fighting in wars is the only reason that I got into water guns in the first place; paintball and airsoft are too expensive, and Nerf just never grew on me that much (I don't like having to pick up millions of darts after fighting, and even the "serious" Nerfers are more laid back than me and my brothers when we fight in the backyard!). While I do find water blaster stats and tech interesting, it's only because it can be put to use on the battlefield.

iSoaker is right though; anyone who is interested in water blasters by themselves should just go to iSoaker.com. You will not find a better website for water guns. Period.

I agree, I have a pretty big collection 35+ and for the most part, they are just for battling. Some guns, like my SS 100, I don't really battle with (it broke any way), but are rather just for there "coolness factor," but of all the guns in my arsenal, only 3 or 4 are for that purpose, the rest are for fighting with. My arsenal wouldn't be half as big if they were all just for me, I pretty much supply the guns for every battle, only a few of my friends have guns of their own, and fewer still have any thing better then an Arctic Blast. That is why it is rather aggravating that all this E-Bay stuff is so pricy, a lot of it never even sells but keeps people who actually want to use those guns from buying them. I hope the people see the light and lower the prices soon, I'm at the point where I might have to bar CPS class blasters from my local battles because there isn't enough to go around (that includes the BBT ones).
