CPS 2000 Mk1 - how much does it sell for?

Post by johnmyers1234 » Wed Jul 16, 2014 11:43 pm

My Super Soaker CPS 2000 was about to be thrown away by a family member before I stopped her under the impression that there was some value to be had. I didn't expect the gun to have the value it commands. I have an IDEA of how much it is worth, but I have only seen recent sales on eBay for the Mk2 gun. I saw one auction for a Mk2 end yesterday (July 15) that went for $145 with $56 shipping (so, $201 total, and I'm sure $56 is a bit high for shipping...maybe im wrong).

edit: sold July 26th, 2014 for $600 plus $35 shipping.

According to my memory CPS 2000 mk1's average around $200 not including shipping while Mk2's sell for around $150.
If you ever bother reading these, I worry for your mental sanity. :oo:

Looks like it's in great shape, but have you tested it recently to see whether it still works? As these blasters are roughly 18 years old now, the likelihood of CPS chamber failure is definitely increased. Of course, you could always try selling it as is without testing if you have any concerns about it failing the test. As for price, you're best bet is to sell it on eBay for at least $150 USD during the summer months. Our membership here tends to look out for deals and would seek out cheaper ones. Of course, you don't mind not getting top dollar and are more interested in making true water warrior users happier, I'm sure there are a number of members here who would be interested in buying it from you, though likely not for >$150.

I can't believe someone would actually "throw it out". Donate it to their local thrift store maybe... ;)
If it doesn't work (as in, broken) this is the place you want to be.

Just figured I would provide and update for reference purposes. I sold the gun for $600, plus $35 shipping.

Shipping via USPS Standard Post was $18.75, plus $14 for balloon size. 36x14x13 box.

That's insane. I can't believe it sold for that much! You'd have to be pretty lucky with the BIN button.

lol, I was not expecting to sell it for that much. I saw some guy on eBay list his MK1 of similar quality for $499.99 with a bunch of declined offers. I e-mailed the guy through eBay and he said he was in no rush to sell, which is why he declined the offers. He said he got offers ranging from $280-380. He told me just to list my gun for a ridiculous amount and the offers will come in. So I did that, except, above his offer, at $599.99 :). I figured I might as well push the offers higher with a higher BIN. I got one offer for $200, which I declined. Next morning it sold...heh. If I knew that there was going to be a guy who would pay $599.99, I would have listed the BIN for higher! hah!

I wanted to sell this sooner than later. 1) I wanted to sell it while it still worked (sure, it works perfectly fine now, but who knows how long plastic will last after 20 years!), 2) I wanted to sell while still in summer. That gun wouldn't command $600 during the dead of winter.

Whenever you need to find the ebay value of a soaker check out my website. Here is my review for the CPS 2000: http://hydrowar.wordpress.com/cps2000/

Duxburian's site is going to feature a more in depth study of ebay values, but it is not complete yet. Here's the address - http://waterwarfare.com/
