What's the real going price of a CPS 2000 MK1?
Hello, all; first post from someone really new to Soakerdom (I bought my first Super Soaker the first week of June, seriously), so I hope you can forgive me if this is a newbie question.
What's a fair price for a CPS 2000 Mk 1? I've seen the same two MK1s languishing on eBay with asking prices of $499/$599, so I assume no-one believes that's what one is truly worth. Listing Completed Listings show only one MK1 that sold recently, and that was because it was put up with a Buy It Now price of $125 and was quickly snapped up, so that's probably not a good gauge of the soaker's true value.
So assuming there's an MK1 in working condition and acceptable appearance (scuffs, no breaks), how much should I consider paying for it?
Thanks in advance.

A working 2000 mk1 is worth maybe as much a $200, A typical mk2 should run about $150. I chose a CPS 2500 over a 2000, (the extra performance just wasn't worth the extra $100-150 to me)

A Mk 1 is going to be expensive. A Mk 2 is almost as good, and it you can cut it's pc to make it as powerful as a Mk 1 if you want. I wouldn't pay more than $80 for a Mk 2, but a Mk 1 is going to be hard to get under $200 which is what I would say it is worth.

We're very close to publishing the first ever ebay database on watergun values. We've been saving up values for the past 3 years.
But, to answer your question, it depends on how long you're willing to wait to get one. The reason I say that is that if you can wait a while you'll probably be able to snag one for $100-$125, but most are going to be around $200+.

While there are not many recent listings for MK1s, we know their prices have taken a tumble because they used to easily go for $300-350 and the highest ever was $506. MK2s have actually closed the gap, as some of those can go for $200.

CPS 2000 MK1 for cheap!
Hey guys, quick heads up!!
I had to cancel my purchase of two CPS 2000 that need repairs, one is a nice MK1 and the other a MK2. He will not separate the two, btw. The seller's BIN price was 250+ 25 shipping but he will take 200$ instant.
So I am "giving" it away to someone on WWN! PM me and maybe I can help you get it, if not it should be reappearing on ebay by tomorrow, up for grabs!

Thanks again for all your responses. It's interesting that prices have actually gone down considering that they're not making any more, and there are obviously no new models that could take its niche and make it less desirable.

I would go for the MK II if you're using it for combat, since I've heard a lot about MK I bladders rupturing prematurely. These bladders have to be replaced, typically done with LRT.
Prices may have went down due to demand settling over time. I'm not completely sure.

Umm no I did not buy the pair, they are being relisted and sold as a pair.
What the heck is going on here???

Am I seeing things? Or not seeing things? Is the Hydrocannon becoming more valuable than a CPS 2000??

Re: What's the real going price of a CPS 2000 MK1?
Certain blasters go on "hot streaks" for no apparent reason. They can be short-lived (2100s above $50) or last years (2000s above $300). So many powerful models are down (2000s, 1500s, 1700s, 300s, MXLs) that it would be tempting to blame the economy. And yet, so many models are actually way up (4100s, 50s, 100s, 200s, 275s) while others have been stable for a decade (3000s, 3200s, 2500s, 1000s, 1200s). So, it's not really the economy...it's just the random peaks and valleys of demand. Winter is still the best time to buy, but there's deals to be had even now, at the height of summer in the northern hemisphere. You just have to hit the right model at the right time, when it's not in demand. I sold a 50 for $50 in May and was shocked that it was BIN'ed after just 3 days of being up. People couldn't get rid of those for $10 in the past. Crazy times we live in...

From the data I've gathered, the Hydrocannon is averaging close to $40 per sale - USED - this year.

I think the Hydro Cannon enjoys a little bit of a reputation as the last "whoa!" Super Soaker, and for a generation who might not have experienced the golden age of CPS, it's the most recent "cool" soaker they can remember, and one that coordinates with their collection of current soakers. I have to confess that that first soaker I bought less than two months ago was a Hydro Cannon ($40 from an Amazon seller), in large part because I saw it in action on a Korean variety show that I regularly watch and was impressed. That was before I learned all this stuff I know now (which is probably still a drop in the bucket compared to the rest of you guys).
The eBay value of it may average out to $40 over the year, but from frequenting eBay I've noticed a definite rise in prices over the past few weeks.

Yeah the Hydro Cannon was really the last shock and awe water gun ever built, It's one of the top 5 most powerful water guns ever but that shot time really brings it down. I would rather use a Hydro Blitz
