What's It Worth To YOU?

Post by marauder » Thu Jul 18, 2013 4:57 pm

Duxburian has been working hard on the ebaydatabase for a long time now and is getting rather close to finishing the project up. Some more of us have also chipped in. The full version will be on DX's new site. I will be featuring the ebay value for used, working models on my reviews pages.

In anticipation for the release of the first ever ebay watergun database I thought it'd be fun to play a little game called what's it worth to you? Basically I list some popular blasters and you tell me how much its worth to you. Then we come back later and compare our own values to those of the general public.

Let's assume all guns are used and working condition and you currently don't have any guns, you're starting from scratch, you've just got enough money to build your dream arsenal.

CPS 3200
CPS 3000
CPS 2700
CPS 2500
CPS 2000
CPS 1700
CPS 1500
CPS 4100
CPS 2100
CPS 1200
CPS 1000
CPS Splashzooka

Monster XL
Monster X
Monster

SC Power Pak
SC Big Trouble
SC 600
SC 500

XXP 275
XP 250
XP 150

XXP 175
XP Pool Pumper Blaster

Arctic Blast
Hydrocannon
Flash Flood
Max D 6000

SS 300
SS 200
SS 100
SS 50

Feel free to add in values for guns I didn't mention. If color schemes and or marks make a difference in how much you'd be willing to pay then by all means note that. There's no wrong answer.

This is a difficult question for me to answer. I'll have to put the guns in order of what I want most to least for my arsenal as if I were starting from scratch, and then go back and add prices.

CPS 2000 $150
XP Pool Pumper Blaster $75
CPS 1700 red/silver $72
SC 600 mk3 $40
SC 500 mk3 $35
SS 300 $34
XXP 275 $33
XP 150 $32.50
Monster XL $32.50
Monster X $32.50
Monster $32.50
SC Power Pak $31
CPS Splashzooka $30
XP 250 $25
Hydrocannon for modding $20
SS 100 mk2 $18

Loaners/chaos rounds only
CPS 2700 mk3 $18
CPS 1500 or 1700 $17.50
CPS 2500 $17.50
CPS 1200 silver $15
CPS 4100 $14.50
CPS 2100 $14
CPS 3000 or 3200 $13
CPS 1000 $10
XP 310 rare purple w neon green tanks $10, all other color versions $6
Flash Flood $7
Max D 6000 same colors as SEAL's $7
XP 270 $6 may be willing to pay more for this color http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/8 ... L1500_.jpg
Arctic Blast $6
XXP 175 $4
SS 200 $4
SC Big Trouble $4
SS 50 $3

So, just looking this over, really I'm a sucker for cool color combinations and designs. Cuz if I was really honest, I would be willing to pay a lot more for color combinations that look sick.

Bumped cause it's 4 AM and I got a 3rd search parameter working. You can now search the price database by All Dates, 2011, 2012, 2013, or Last 90 Days, in addition to the existing model and condition parameters. So, if you want to lookup the CPS 2000 mk2, in good condition, sold in 2012, you could do that. I also listened to Soakinader and made "All" the default choice on the list. If you only choose a model and then hit the submit button, it will automatically show all conditions and dates.

The Last 90 Days option may end up being slightly off, as it still requires manual updating. The Ebay listing links displayed in the results automatically determine whether it's been 90 days from the date of the sale and automatically remove the link if it has. However, this takes place on the fly, so I can't replicate it in the database, or more like, haven't figured out how.

A shipping section has been added that will list the empty weight and ideal box size for each model. I would imagine that users trying to find values are also looking to sell, so it's convenient to have that data on the same page.

Aggregate sales volume has been added to show how much money is moved in specific models. This lets the user verify the average price given, as they can simply divide the sales volume by the number of listings. This stat may later form the backbone for a rarity or value rating. It will become very apparent what is rare, but doesn't sell well vs what is rare and is made of gold.

I also added some social sharing buttons, as I want this page to be THE gateway into the community for nerfers and collectors who would normally come looking for Ebay values, but might find something else that interests them. We've often missed out in the past, when people have come looking for values and we've been unable to give them enough answers.

Before I go to bed, I want to echo back all the search parameters to the user in the results heading. Before, it only showed "Results for: $model" and you had to remember what condition you searched for. With the condition and date in the heading, you will know exactly what you searched for.

Unfortunately, I did not get around to adding more data in. The CPS 2000, 2000 mk1, and 2000 mk2 are still the only completed models in the database.

That's going to be really useful. I just realized that I asked everyone to define how much a gun is worth, as if they didn't have any guns already, and disregarding current prices and or how rare a gun is. This is silly because something's value is completely supply and demand dependent.

@Duxburian: a CPS3000/3200 is only worth ~three Colossus 2s to you? I'll trade you three Colossus 2's for a working 3000/3200 if you're game! :goofy:

Lol, these are the prices I'd use if I were building an arsenal from scratch. You'll need a lot more Colossi 2 :p
