Watch Out for Shipping

Sellers can trick you. This gun is just 99 cents, but shipping is $150. It's impressive to see a first generation SS 100 still mint in box, but I wouldn't pay $150 for it.

I saw that yesterday scanning through the eBay listing, and I actually gasped. :goofy:
Some of these listings are ridiculous. An SC 400 going for $60, a Quick Blast going fro $40, an XP 85 going for $120... these people must think that just because it has the name "Super Soaker" on it it is vintage and wroth lots of money. Also, has anyone noticed that CPS 2000 going for $350? That guy has been trying to sell that thing since January. :goofy:

LOL
Did you see the 1-3-5 going for 150? Talk about a bad deal!

I traded my 1-3-5 for a CPS 1500. The same 1500 that sunk to the bottom of the lake for a year and still works after I recovered it.

Also, I noticed a difference between the SS 100 in the picture and the SS 100s that my brother and I own. Isoaker lists 3 versions: Original, Classic, and "New and Improved." Although it is never stated that performance/durability is the same across all 3 (only the NI is fully reviewed) it is implied that this is probably the case.

However, there are several visible differences, aside from color, between the original and the a2 aka "new and improved" version. First, the firing chambers are different. The firing chamber on the a2 is larger than on he a1. Also, there are additional screws placed towards the butt of the gun.

I do not have an original SS 100, I'm just looking at the pictures online and noticing differences. I think that the "Classic" SS 100 is just a recolored a2. If I remember correctly, the a2s (New and Improved) came out in 1998. Then the a3s (classic) came out in 2000.

They have the same color, but they are not the same gun. In fact, I don't think that the first gun is even from 1990.

This gun is just for collecting...Too fragile and too weak to use in a water war :goofy:

Would not be the first time that I pay over 150 Dollars for a single Soaker but Soakers must be collectible AND useful in water warfare.

I hate those damn shipping gouges. Its a good trick because they don't have to refund you if you sucker into it, and you can't simply retract your bid. Worst of all, the price that shows up on the list is completely misleading.

I wonder if eBay policy has anything about that. They probably don't because it happens all the time.

Edit: Hahaha, check it out. http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/sel ... l#shipping

The prices suck overall. I saw someone try to sell an SC 600 for like $400 once. The price gougers make me hesitant to put my arsenal up, since I start everything at 99 cents...would I get jipped if not enough people bid?

If I recall correctly, you can set a reserve price on your item (i.e a minimum amount you'd be willing to sell an item for). If the reserve price is not met at the end of an auction, the item is not sold (but then you'd need to re-list it again costing money).

As for the rip-off shipping rate, that's something I believe that can be reported to eBay.

That's the starting bid though. The ending price would be higher than 99 cents, but I doubt anyone will bid on it.

Earlier I ran into a shipping gouge before; I was thinking with my mouse instead of my head and bidded far too much on the item, but lucked out as I managed to retract the bid for entering the wrong amount, leaving me to not have to get the item. (However, the person who out-bidded me was a shill.) Problem was, I didn't recognize eBay's policy on shipping charges which would've been a problem had I ran into trouble with bid retraction. (The item in question was Xbox Live 12-month; the bid was at $30 and the shipping was $20 and there's no way it would've taken that much to mail the card, or to email/transfer the code on it over the internet.)

Wait... something is wrong with this. I tried to sell something a while back, but I couldn't because the maximum shipping amount is $4. The only way to go higher than that is to use calculated shipping, which automatically gives the USPS price depending on where the buyer lives. How did he get away with such a high shipping amount?

There's a NIB SC 600 for $100 right now. Furthermore, it's the first version, the one with supposedly less power.

The XP 95 with original box is $60 + shipping. I thought that was a bit much, but just out of curiosity I messaged the user asking if it "built up pressure when you pumped it, shot a thick 30+ ft stream of water when you pulled the trigger, and then stopped firing water after the trigger was released?" I have learned you have to put it in those terms, because these sellers have a lot of different definitions of "working." He said that it did all of that, but water dribbled out of the nozzle after you released the trigger. I am curious about the 95, but I'd only pay $60 for a brand new one.

Here's a cheap 100 with no ripoff shipping:

I'm not bidding, though. :)
