NIB CPS 1200

Post by martianshark » Mon Jan 24, 2011 8:32 pm

I posted this on SSC, but I guess I'll post it here too...

Today was my luckiest trip to Goodwill. I found a NIB CPS 1200. I want to use it, but it might be better to sell it and get a bigger gun. So what do you think a NIB CPS 1200 is worth? If it's more than $40, I'll sell it.

Okay, who edited the title? (not that I care :goofy:)

You could potentially get $40 through eBay from those really wanting true CPS-blasters. Of course, it costs money to list things there. That said, that CPS1200 likely outperforms most of what's out on the market at the moment. Then again, it is also many years old so its chamber may not necessarily last that much longer, depending on how it was stored all this time.

As I mentioned at SSC, I am generally unconcerned about CPS reliability due to age. A 1200 NIB will almost certainly last longer than a Flash Flood, as most CPS's were built rugged. (With due exceptions *ahem MK II of CPS 4100 and 2100.) From what I searched on eBay, there doesn't seem to be all that much going on, and most people seem to be fine with a used 1200 if it means they can save $10 or $20.

Of course, I can't be all that sure as I have hardly paid any attention at all to the market lately. Speaking of which, to be clear on what I mean by the market, I'm only refering to the one that provides high grade water warfare blasters. There's plenty of 2500's around, and others that outperform the 1200 that are on market eBay. Of course, eBay also gets overloaded with fake or overpriced junk, but no one pays attention to those anyways.

Either way, regardless of what you sell, you want to be competitive. Make the starting price decently low. Maybe not too low (as in $1 low) as that does run a risk unless you set a reserve (which may cost more and annoy bidders), but something around $5 to $10 is reasonable; you want people to get into a bidding war if possible, but that seems unlikely for a 1200.

If I were you I would forget about selling the gun. I would appreciate a NEW CPS 1200 for modifying and firing around and soaking people and having lots of fun in the summer much much more than I would appreciate 40 Dollars(if you do get that much, but not sure about this). This is my view of things, although I do possess lots of CPS guns. But as always the final decision is yours :)

FYI, I edited the title. The original title you had, "1200", simply was too vague. At least at SSC you posted the title of "CPS 1200". :goofy: I opted to add in "NIB" since you included that in your post. I hate vague titles and am starting to crack down on them.
