Fake super soaker cps (2800?)
Fake super soaker cps (2800?)
Ive found a super soaker on ebay that looks very much like a cps 1500, but is obviously a fake for many reasons.
Here it is:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EX-LARGE-Super-So ... otohosting
Looks pretty real at first glance doesnt it? Not if you look closely.
Firstly and most obviously it says cps 2800, and as you know there is no such thing so it obviously is a fake.
Next (compared to the cps 1500):
No cap
No strap or strap loops
Much less detailed and doesnt look very well built.
Pump and grip blue not purple
You are unable to change the nozzle size.
The list could go on forever.
Unless this is some kind of limited edition secret cps water gun im pretty sure its a fake.
I have written this thread so if anyone sees this type of gun they'll know its a fake
and to see your views on this gun.

The same make as the one in this thread
Yup, it's a fake. It's also been around for a long time (at least since 2003). See Beware of Imitations

I've been browsing around Amazon and this is what I've found.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GT ... _i=507846
Yes, not one, but TWO cps looking blasters. The first link is to the one that mkhadem pointed out, and the second one looks kinda like a cps 1000.

Re: Fake super soaker cps (2800?)
Just a recap, but I found something that not only vaguely resembled a CPS 1000, but it seemed like it WAS one! If I hadn't seen the pressure gauge thing ,the weird stickers, and the bad coloring schemes, I would have fallen for it.

Re: Fake super soaker cps (2800?)
To be fair, the stickers do say "Super Water Gun", not "Super Soaker". And the ad listing doesn't describe it as a Super Soaker. It's still a knock-off, but at least it's not pretending to be anything other than a knock-off.

Isn't "Constant Pressure System" a restricted trademark? I would think they could be sued for using that.

Yes, but Hasbro never bothers.
Re: Fake super soaker cps (2800?)
The words "constant pressure system" haven't been trademarked for over 10 years according to the USPTO. It seems Hasbro abandoned the trademark in September 1998.
Besides, there's no shorter way to say "constant pressure system" other than "isobaric system". Most people don't know what isobaric means though, so constant pressure system works.
