Is this a scam?

eBay is an auction site. Auctions usually start at ~$1, but go up as people bid more for the item. If you're lucky, no one else will bid and the price will remain low. However, if you are unlucky, many people will bid, driving the price quite high. The good thing is that you can bid what you'd be willing to pay and see if you can win the auction. However, beware about shipping costs, especially if you're not in the US. In fact, some sellers will not ship overseas. If you are unsure about an item, contact the seller using the links provided on eBay.

Of course, no one can tell whether a sale is legit unless you give us a link to the sale you are talking about.
