I've been trying to make a timebomb but have had little sucess. I've tried tying string soaked in deodorant to the end of the bomb, lighting it, and running like hell, but it always burns out near the balloon. Lighting the end of the balloon works no better. Help..........

That is a little to dangerous. The Explosion could damage surrondings of the area. I'd stick to Water Balloon Mines and Throw Darts at them rather than a cobustionizied Water Balloon explosion.

No, you don't understand. The deodorant makes the string burn faster and more reliably. When the flame reaches the balloon, the balloon should burst. I'm not trying to strap C4 to the thing!

Darts may be safer than explosives, but can you imagine if you aimed a little too low?
"AAAHHH! MY EYE!"

The most reliable trap I've used so far is the simple:
"Throw a string over a tree branch and tie a balloon to it" method.

You can even use massive party size balloons for this type, which will dump over a gallon of water on its unfortunate target.

I myself have searched for a better drenching trap or time-bomb, but with little success. I did however manage to create a fairly impressive mine that is very simple, cheap, easy to set up and effective at spraying the upper torso of your target with a suggnificant amount of water.

I will be reviling this new piece of equipment in the coming weeks, along with several other homemade devices that are overdue for their debut.

Darts are a terrible idea in my opinion.
Deodorant does not pose much of a danger;
at least not much more than any fuse would.
I don't think that a flame would effectively create much 'bursting' in a balloon though. I have not much idea in terms of what would work, but here's my opinion so far.

Ya, but water warfare often takes place on hot dry days, ideal for those lovely wild-fires you hear about.

I say just wait intill you want it to go off and then trough it at the place you want it to explod. I don't see the pont of a time bomb, besids the fact that it would be cool.

If you're using it for assassination purposes, use a long string, a mini slingshot, and a needle.

What if you hung a balloon in a tree (or over someplace someone is likely to take cover), and then either set up a tripwire type device or extend a string that you can activate yourself? Once the wire is set off or you pull the string, the device will drop the balloon onto your enemy! I think i would be interested in designing something like that. That way, the balloon woudlnt' be in plain sight and you could time it to make sure it'll hit someone.

That seems like it could work if used properly. It's a classic idea that many have mentioned over time, yet I've never taken the time to attempt to implement. Good luck in trying this, please report back with your findings.

Prime's idea has been around for a while.
I've messed around with it some, but never got very good results. The balloons tended not to break appon impact.
Maybe I just need to get some bigger bombs. (Evil)

What about hanging a bucket or something of that sort. And instead of dropping a balloon, it would just dump a bunch of water on the person?

Thought of this too, made a few primitive prototypes, but found it too cumbersome and time consuming to set-up.

I got inspired by this page, though how they used ice is a little different than what came to my mind.

Ice could be used as a delay device; no, don't freeze a water balloon. Instead, freeze two lengths of string together. Tie one part to a water balloon and tie the other to a tree or wherever you want the balloon to drop from. When the ice melts enough, the balloon will be released. To reduce pre-dripping from the idea that may give away a timer's location, attach a small bit of sponge or absorbent paper to reduce/eliminate water from the melting ice from falling.

Never tried it, but it should work.

Using ice as a delay time could be used for a lot of more complex devices as well.

Hmm, seems like it would be rather inaccurate for timing and keeping it cold until you use it could be an issue. Keep the ideas coming though.

Inaccurate? You mean you don't know how fast an ice cube melts? :goofy:

I'm thinking of this more for a delayed timer, not a specific-time-delay timer. If one needs something set for a specific amount of time, a spring-loaded clock timer or digital one would be needed.

I see what your thinking now.
But what purpose could the odd-time system be used for?

Good question! I have no good answer. :goofy:

*thinking* Perhaps useful as a distraction if a rough estimate of melting time is known (tests would need to be done on how long it takes an average ice cube to melt enough to release a strung-up water balloon). Of course, it's also great for playing pranks in areas where people are known to hang out, but I'd only recommend targetting friends/family and never strangers.

Yeah that good, but a lot of research would have to be conducted so we now how long the string needs to be at a certain temperature.
