quick aph question

Post by Justice_Drencher » Sun Jul 06, 2025 8:49 pm

recently ive been in the final stages in my aph development with the hopes of making new projects going forward. however do to a busy schedule development of my aph has been stunted a bit. but recently i have put a hose on my aph. unfortunately it seems that the hose has kinda made it take an extreemely long time to pump and does not get to full chamber volume. i have a idea of why this is, i think the length of the hose is too long with it being 10 feet. it also could be the diameter of the hose as it is rather small. but id like to hear feedback about this issue and how i could potentially fix it. but thats about it.

The hose could definitely make pumping take longer. Try a larger diameter hose. I think I used 3/8" inner diameter tubing before and found that worked well. It's a similar size to what the backpack Super Soakers used.

thanks for the response ben. i ended up switching the hose out for a wider shorter vinyl hose and it seems to work just fine now. i will find a solar shower eventually and complete the build. however while i was testing the gun however something strange occured and i have zero explanation of how or why this happend. i dont have a picture of it but ill describe it the best i can. while i was pumping the gun up the pump hose asemblly shifted causing the chambers and pump to be non parrallel. at that moment i was scared that i just broke my aph until i did the brawn over brain thing and just twisted it back into place. i tested it for a air and water tight seal and it was in fact water and air tight. however i found no sign of ware or damage to either the pvc or the cement holding the gun together. i have zero explanation of why this occured and just wanted to let you know in case thats like a death sentence to keep on using this watergun. ive recreated this event the best i could in a pvc software.

Can you take some photos of the part that rotated so I can have a better idea of what's going on?

If it's a threaded connection, that's fine to rotate as long as it doesn't become detached and the seal doesn't break. But if it was PVC cemented as you described then it should not be possible to rotate like that if it was cemented properly.

This won't explode but it certainly is dangerous. I recall someone saying that they tried using an APH before the PVC cement had cured and some parts shot off. If the weak part is right after the second check valve in the flow path, I would expect the pressure chambers and nozzle to fly off like a water rocket. That's absolutely dangerous.
