Trigger Repair

Post by HBWW » Thu Jun 23, 2016 10:36 pm

There aren't many decent resources for this common issue, so here's one.

Tools/Materials: Small cutters, metal plating, epoxy.

Procedure: Measure out the metal plating you need to cut to get good coverage on the part. Cut this out twice. Use the two pieces, one on each side. Do not use only a single strip on the bottom of the trigger, this will not hold. Remember, more surface area is better.

Use epoxy to connect the metal strips to the trigger pieces. Devcon Plastic Welder is good.

You may need to sand/dremel/file down portions of the trigger and/or shell in order for this repair to fit. Test frequently by assembling the shell and trigger.

Good stuff. Here's how I did my 2700 trigger:

This was the third attempt, and despite being ugly, so far it's held quite well (I only pull on the metal part to be sure), however it seems I didn't file the casing down enough because it sometimes catches and gets stuck open. This played a big part in my team's loss in the CTF round at the last Frozen Fury.

I think this is the area where 3D printing will help the most. I will make that a project this fall.

We probably won't be back, but the legacy lives on.

This is great. Can I put this on Hydrowar and advertise on the main page (link to the forum)?
