Super Soaker CPS 1200 Pump

The pump on my cps 1200 is very jumpy and hard to pump. It occasionally just gets stuck and you have to jiggle it to fix it. It requires far more effort to pump then the cps 1000 and is very rough. Any repair tips?
Thanks! :)

This happened to my MD3k. I speculate it just needs some good old grease. Silicon would probably be good, but I'm not sure if it is good for the rubber. Alternatively, you could get a new o-ring.

I'll try grease I don't want to open it up though in less it breaks cause I really don't want to break it. Do you think wd 40 would be good?

WD-40=BAD. Don't use it. I will degrade the rubber. You are going to have to open it. While you have it open, you could k-mod it. The first time opening a gun is the hardest. There will be some glue, some rust, and other fun things. Opening it again will be a breeze.

What about silicone spray or Vaseline?

Silicon spray would be good, but silicon grease would be best.

me soak u: Believe me, grease the pump. I got a CPS 1200 in really bad condition and it had the exact same problem with the pump. Once I used silicon grease and took some gunk out of it, it started working amazingly. Once I greased it was easier to pump and it took less pumps.

how did you take the gunk out of it? also how should I apply it, just smear it on the shaft?

Put the grease on the o-ring.

And to get to the o-ring I just pop the pump cap off, right?

Im not sure about the 1200, bt for the Max-D 3000, you have to open the whole gun.

It is probably glued, so get out your hobby knife and you flathead screwdrive. Cut and wedge, cut and wedge, repeat until unglued. Works like a charm.

The nozzle cap on the 1200 is very hard to remove because of the large surface area that is glued. You will probably need to break away the entire orange piece towards the front. Don't worry, the 1200 is perfectly usable without the nozzle cap, and I actually prefer the way it looks.
