CTF game

Post by the oncoming storm » Mon May 06, 2013 3:18 pm

While I had some friends over 2 weeks ago I had a game of CTF here is a report of what happened, note this is not the big 15 vs 15 CTF game that will happen this sumer

Teams
Me age 17 Super Soaker 300
Nathan age 7 XP 20 nozzle drill
Timothy age 5 Avenger
vs
Evan age 10 Gorgon/Explorer
Some kid age 10 Shield Blaster 3000

We started with 1 flag per team and I left Nathan back to defend the flag and set out with Timothy to get the other flag. When we got to the front yard I found both of them defending the flag so I opened fire to drive them back from the flag, I believe that I scored a hit on the Gorgon, and told my teammate to grab the flag while I covered him, he stood still to worried that he might get hit, and then pointed out that the 300's backpack was leaking water out of the tank connection. I reached around to try and fix it but the shield blaster scored a hit on me and then the Gorgon hit my teammate...

We respawned but when we came back out to go after the flag the Gorgon took me out in an ambush, Again I respawned and started to try and fix the again but he went on the deck and got me again, next time I got out of the backyard and killed the Gorgon but was hit just afterward by shield blaster who had blocked my shot. by this time the 300 was basically out so I threw the lid to the rain barrel off and dipped the tube in there to pump it up, Some Troll (my sister :x ) decided to step out on the deck and told me that the rain barrel was full of dirty water It wasn't but I was forced to pause the game and refill.

Once we had all topped our guns off we went back to the flags to start the game, I switched flag defenders hoping to have a more obedient teammate. I ran out into the open side-yard to avoid another ambush in the driveway and Nathan came with me. We met our foes hiding behind the tree for cover and the flag 20' away in front of us and them, I told Nathen twice to grab the flag while I covered him but he stayed still. finally he grabbed the flag and we won that round.

Round 2

We gave them back our flag, and started again. predictably both our foes guarding the flag again. I tried to pin them down behind the tree while my teammate charged in behind and got the flag, but he only walked forward slowly and the shield Blaster took him out then rushed over to the corner of the house and tried to get me, I fired hitting his shield and moved to the left flank of the tree as he retaliated missing me. my teammate had now respawned and I told him to grab the flag. but the Gorgon got a single drop on my arm and I counted it as a Hit (I'm a Nice guy). Nathan was also hit, I respawned quickly and got out from the kill zone in the driveway without getting hit, however both of my quarries turned to get me (instead of the almost undefended flag :goofy:) I pointed this out and the Gorgon took me up on that getting away with it while I was busy with the Shield Blaster.

Round 3

We meet this round as a tie breaker, Little to note here only one kill on the gorgon who after respawning grabbed our flag and tried to return it, I then grabbed the other teams flag while his teammate wasn't looking, both teams returned flags ending the round in a tie.

Round 4

Another tie breaker, Little to note except that I did finally kill the Shield Blaster user but he had switched to the Gorgon by that point.

Yes, stay away from corners when you've got the big guns! Corners, bushes, cars, etc. are all great equalizers. They allow less powerful guns to get in range to ambush you. Looks like you successfully used the 300 as a big time decoy though, distracting the enemy while you friend grabbed the flag. That's good.

Sounds like a fun and even game! Was the shield blaster really able to block a powerful shot from the 300? If i were you i would fire a tap shot at his neck area, and the another two on his torso and his thighs all in quick succesion, this usually works for me when i am facing someone with a shield of that size. Also, it seems that the gorgon is a great weapon that can be used in ambush situations and open-field situations alike. Now we can only hope for a gorgon 2 with better ergonomics.

well fighting with 2 noob's as teammates meant that I was basically fighting 2 vs 1 leaving me with little time for singling someone out.

Another CTF game

Order of battle
Me Gorgon
Josh Stone Cold shotgun, XP 20

vs

Isaiah Renegade
Jonah Explorer

We started with our teams flag placed at the Pagoda M4 started at in the duel, and the other teams flag in the big pagoda

I told josh to guard our flag and went after the other teams flag myself, I dodged a few shots from the renegade and then took out the explorer while he was pumping, then I moved around their flag base trading shots with the renegade before getting hit. Respawning I went back on the prowl heading strait at the flag with a clear aproch, I hit the renegade but then the explorer took me out. Respawn again, I hit the explorer again and saw our flag was under attack, running I hit Isaiah just as he grabbed our flag. within seconds Josh came running back with there flag Victory

We did another round

This time I guarded the flag, I hit Isaiah making him re-spawn, and josh scored a kill with the XP 20 before stealing their flag again Another victory.

Sounds like a great match. Capture the flag is fun. Have you been using the trees to hide behind or is most of the fighting out in the open?

What did you use as respawn points? i've never had a very fun ctf round before, and i think that it is because of bad respawn point set up. If i can find a solution, then i may initiate a ctf round at an upcoming war that i am hosting.

I tend to use the flag as the spawn point with a 10 second time delay, mind you the more people are playing the longer the time needs to be.
