A Name for the Community War?

Post by DX » Tue Nov 29, 2011 11:09 pm

Because "Community War" is kind of lame. Major Nerf wars have good names and this is our major war, so it deserves something better, imo. If the community grows enough to support multiple wars with regular schedules, I think our premier event should be differentiated in name.

My thoughts exactly. I suppose we could shorten it to "CWW", but that's kind of boring. Let me think...

Soakapolypse? Community Premier Soaking Event (Or CPS Event for short. :D )? SEAL Is Awesome (Erm, scratch that... :goofy: )? Or maybe just "The Water War" (Because it's THE water war!)...

Off-Topic: iSoaker, could you perchance have a "Strikethrough" option (That would go next to the Bold, Italics, and Underline options.)?

Champing the Champfest.
CPS Two-Champion
What? I'm really liking the word.

Off topic, but Facebook has really ruined my ability to use forums, my friends encourage spamming on FB, and I'm getting good at it :P

Strikethrough would be nice, but while adding in bbcode may be possible, adding in an option is trickier. Will look into it, though.

Back on topic, a name for the Community War? Hmm.. how about Dave.

Hi, All, this is Dave, the Community War... err... :goofy:

More seriously:

THE Water War (but until it's bigger than the Songkran festival, calling it "THE" is overstating it)
Soakerdom LIVE
Soaking Man (instead of Burning Man)
Occupy Dryness? ...ok, overused term
Drenchfest (Year)
Soakfest (Year)
Aquawar (Year)
The Soaker Cup

Update: there's an "s" button for Strikethrough. Can't put it beside the bold, italics, underline buttons, though. It's stuck at the end of the button list.

I just tried to put it there and nothing happened. In theory, you can go into the file that displays the html structure of the buttons and simply add the s entry between u and Quote. I thought that the WWN skin is just a stylesheet applied on the prosilver template and that editing the template would change it, but evidently not.

How about the
Water
War
Enthusiast
Tournament
W.W.E.T.?

Other people had some good ideas as well, I think SEAL's idea of C.P.S. is the best so far.

Edit:
I have an idea, how about we each use our own acronym, this way we will always know what we are talking about! Oh, wait, then no one else will understand, OK, never mind! After every one Else's, I had to make a bad joke myself. :goofy:

Edit: (again)
Yeash, I just read this again, I made so many typos! (They should be fixed now if I didn't make any more on this).

Me to. But would 11 zombies be the end of the word? No.

CPS is good though. Something really abstract would be cool too.

How about W.A.T.E.R.?

I like the Hydropocalypse idea; it sounds better than "Soakapolypse" (Aquapocalypse sounds pretty good too.). Downpour also sounds pretty good, especially since we had that storm in the first war, and we could name the event after it.

Maybe a poll is in order?

Well, we should wait a little longer in case any one else has any ideas, but I think soon we should have a vote on the best one. But I think some one else will have to make it, I've done it before but I can't remember how, its a little embarrassing, but I can't even remember how to make a new topic! I wouldn't mind some help if any of you intelligent people remember these things, hint, hint.

I can set one up, no problem. Polls are currently limited to 10 options, so what should go in for voting?

Oh and Community Premier Soaking Event doesn't purely make CPS, though changing it to something like Community Premier Soakfest would. Looking back on everything, I prefer Hydropocalypse. CPS is great, but one issue with that is appending the year could confuse new people. Imagine seeing CPS 2012 in search engines. ZOMG new model of CPS!? Or a PC-Swapping integration? Not sure when you'd want to put a 2000 PC in a 1200, but that's the convention.

Hydrocolypse

I also think this would be good to advertise on the nerf forums as well.

We just need a consistent spelling.
Hydropocalypse
Hydrocolypse
Hydrocalypse

Though I also like the sound of Aquapocalypse. :goofy:

there's also aquarmageddon, hydromageddon, and good ol' WWn Water Warfare Open.

OK, well if CPS is out then I wouldn't mind my idea, W.W.E.T. (Water War Enthusiast Tournament) being in the voting. Oh, and can some one remind me how to make a new topic, I don't need to right now, but I might later.

Hit the new topic button.

I nominate Hydopacalypse. (That spelling.)
