I'm bringing a go pro along with other cameras so we can get multi angled shots of the action. Don't expect a movie right away, but do look forward to it before Christmas. It is going to be far and above all the other videos we've made.

I'm thinking about getting a Go Pro with my birthday money, but I'm not sure; whenever I get money my first instinct is to hoard it, so I wish that I could've just gotten the camera itself on my birthday. If I do get one, I'll definitely bring it.

Hey DX, does your place have Wi-Fi? If so, I can bring my laptop and stay up-to-date on everything (though I'd be surprised if this place gets more than 5 posts while we're gone...).

Edit: Also, did we decide if we're going to use spawn points in the long OHS round?

Guess I shouldn't have said that the attendence list is bigger than any other community war so far (not counting Hydropocalypse because only about half the participants were members). Oh well, hopefully you'll be able to make it to Downpour next year (and I'm hoping that a lot more people will come too).

We should still have enough for a long round though. I really want to have one.

Couldn't live without it.
Also, did we decide if we're going to use spawn points in the long OHS round?
No, because I don't want people to get lost trying to find one. Granted, it is difficult to get lost in Paine proper, but if someone takes the wrong trail, they could end up in the wrong section of the park where there is only one trail going back the right way. The respawn rules have not been finalized yet.

We still have enough people to support the 3 hour round. I re-scouted the park yesterday to assess how the storm damage affects the war and I can say that the big downed pine trees add to the experience by providing concealment and reducing line of sight through the pine forest areas.

I live without it. :goofy:

For respawn rules, I would probably go with "stand 100 feet away from the action for 1 minute". Spawn points would be prefered, but yes, people could get lost trying to find them, especially since none of us have been there before, and we have some younger players. Downed pine trees are great; my local battleground has a bunch of them, and they definitely make things more interesting.

Ten day forecast predicts it will be in the 30s on the 1st, and around 10 degrees in the morning. Officially, these things are only 5% accurate, but it raises the question - what do we do if it's that cold?

I am willing to forego fighting at Paine Open Space, or shorten the time there, in order to fight at Long Beach. This is our ONLY chance to fight at Long Beach. They will tear it down in the Spring. We can always fight at Paine some other time. Hopefully we don't have to do that, but if it's brutal cold in the morning I am willing to postpone that in order to fight at Long Beach once it warms up.

Bah. F*** numbers. I'm fighting no matter what. :goofy:

You're probably right about LBW though. The only reason I want to fight at POS Paine Open Space is because that's where we'd have our hardcore battle. It really does not matter to me what we end up doing, as I will be bundled up.

As long as it will be warm enough that the water doesn't freeze in out guns I should be coming, too bad Poseidon can't make it though. :( I sure hope it will be warm enough since this thing sound like it will be a lot of fun. I plan to being many guns to to trade, most of them are broken, so I'm not expecting much, but to get rid of 10 guns that are just taking up space for even a few working ones is probably worth it.

By the way, have we gotten an address yet? If not do you think you could PM us it? Also do you think I would be able to find it using my GPS, or is it one of those places that often appears 5 miles from any known road?

LBW is going to be "cold" no matter what/when we go. It's an exposed barrier beach until you get to the playing area. Of course, going when it's 36 degrees is better than going when it's 16 degrees, since there will be a wind chill. I am willing to bump Paine Open Space back so we can fight at LBW. The rivalry round will be shortened accordingly and CTF moved to Sunday. New Schedule coming soon.

However, note that there may be more people at the LBW parking lot in the middle of the day than in the morning. If we wait, we need to choose guns and backpacks so that no guns are visible when walking out. It is going to look completely sketchy and I do not want anyone to call the cops.

You won't have to worry about water freezing in guns. Moving water does not like to freeze, even at extreme temperatures.

So we'll fight at Paine in the morning and go to LBW in the middle of the day? That's okay with me. How many people are sticking around for Sunday, by the way? I will, but only if enough others do.

We will have to worry about water freezing if the guns are left lying somewhere. We need to be careful of that.

I'm not so much concerned with water freezing in the tanks as in the pipes. The tanks of the guns would be sloshing around enough but the pipes are so inclosed that there wouldn't be much room for the water to move around and if it ends up like down pour 2011, then the water could stay there for quite some time. I will probably be using my Colossus though, so at least if it does freeze it will be a gun that is replaceable.

Not really much of a one for football, but wow!

We are supposed to play at Long Beach first. This is good because you want to play your faster paced game during the coldest part of the day. The first battle will take place in the abandoned theater. There is no reason water should be lying around, pumped up in a gun, for any extensive period of time, for this battle. This is the smallest fighting area, with lots of places to move behind. Either way, we should probably fill our guns up with hot water before the battle.

Everyone, please bring any gun you are looking at trading or selling. I will be bringing a Storm 760 and CPS 1500 for SEAL. John do you still want my 2500? Scott, I would to trade you my Vindicator. I also would like to trade for your 275. If you have broken guns that you are looking at getting rid of, I want them.

Unless something comes up, I will be taking our minivan, so I could bring my entire arsenal if you guys want! I will probably bring most, if not all my broken ones, though some of them I would just bring to see if I can get advice on fixing them. I hope nothing happens, I think that car doesn't like water wars, we tried to take it to Downpour but it broke down after only a mile. I just hope if it does have problems it doesn't have them when I'm already halfway there!

On another note I will also be bringing a DVD of Downpour 2012; at this point I don't think I will ever get to editing that. I would really like to put my touch on it, but at least this way it will get online.

^I hope my car holds up too! It's been having problems over the last few days. Hopefully the issue will be resolved by next week, because otherwise you have no idea how angry I'd be. You can give the DVD to me; I have a (somewhat) professional movie making program, and I can easily make an epic video out of all the footage.

I have a set of blank DVD-RWs if you want to share the footage  I'm still looking for some that I know exists, but is MIA. Scott, do you have the stuff from the Valley of Death at Downpour and the lake assault at Hydropoc? Someone has to have the lake assault, I thought Ben recorded from our side, too. Seal, I am also looking for Downpour stuff, including where I shot Bela with the water cannon.

Weather Update!

Saturday:
BF: 39/19, W:5-10 MPH, WC: 38
NWS: 41/29, W:9 MPH

Sunday:
BF: 43/21, W:<5 MPH, WC: 40
NWS: 44/35, W:7 MPH

No chance of precipitation from either model on either day. Sunday is shaping up to be a slightly better day, both in temperature and wind. Both models warmed up a little. Both mornings will still start out frigid, before warming up around 10-11ish AM.

I take it you've never seen my Downpour video. The footage of you blasting Bela with the water cannon is near the end. I know Scott recorded footage at the Valley of Death (very appropriate name), but I don't know about the lake assault; I remember M4 filming me launching balloons at the shore, but I don't know what happened to the footage.

Edit: Well, the weather doesn't look horrible. If we bundle up, we'll be fine. I want to get a woodland BDU, but there aren't any surplus stores around, and I can't really buy one online because Paypal is retarded.

SEAL, I may be able to hook you up with a set of woodland BDUs. I think I have 2 sets, maybe 3. I will bring an extra pair for you. May cost you a gun in a trade or something, but they're yours if you want them.
