Let's get the ball rolling again here and see where we go.

Here's the gist: I couldn't attend Hydropoc, but I CAN get to Downpour IF I finally get a job and if it doesn't conflict with said job and a summer class I'm taking. As far as DX/M4's offer with helping financially goes, I'd only accept it if I knew I can pay it back which I can't at the moment. That's just how it is for me.

The best way to go for me is to have it before July 1st, or between August 23rd and Sept 1st. I don't expect Downpour to be scheduled at all with me in consideration though, given the fact that I already missed two of the wars. What it really comes down to is how things go on my end.

Haha, I was going to revive this thread myself.

I already suggested having it on July 28th-29th, since my brothers' birthdays are on the 27th, and we could sort of combine the event with their party, and have more people. I understand that CA99 probably can't come on those dates, but if he doesn't end up coming anyway, it'd be better if we had it on the 28th and 29th.

Here's another possibility; my cousins from NC are coming up here in early-mid June (not quite sure of the dates yet.), so we could have more people then, too. The only thing is, it might be a little short-notice.

I'm really looking forward to this after Hydropocalypse. I wish we could have wars like these all the time, like the Nerf people.

Let's stick with those dates for now actually. If I can make it on another date (and if I can do so without a doubt), I'll update and post about it. Technically, I could try to run over on the 28th to 29th (though the 27th and 28th would be more likely) and then fly back in time for class on the 30th, but both options are less likely than I even had to make it to Hydropoc.

Just a reminder that this thread is still here. This event is actually closer than we may think, assuming we do hold it on the 27th-29th. It would be nice if we could get an idea of how many people are coming. If we hold it on the planned dates, I can bring up to 6 or 7 extra people, although probably only for one of the days. I know DX is going to come, and Scott as well, and hopefully wetmonkey or even Belisaurius can also come. We should also try to contact SSC Ben, and try to get him to come. Anyone else who's nearby should make an ernest effort to come. The more people, the more fun we can have.

We should be able to get at least the same amount as last year, but I'd like to get more. I know there are enough people close by to make that a reality...

Here's the Doodle calendar. Yes, it's still there! Click me!

Bump, bump, bump. Bumppity bumppity bumppity bump-bump... BUMP!

I'm noticing a slight lack of enthusiasam here... This is not good. At this point, it looks like the 27th-29th seems to be a go, which means that we have a little over one month before our 2nd annual Downpour. Anybody who's thinking about coming should start planning soon. So far, me and my brothers will definitely be there, and I'll be inviting a friend or two, plus some cousins. Aside from that, Scott and DX are the only other community members that I know are coming for sure. So anyone else, if you're nearby, please take a look at your schedule and see whether or not you'll be free for the war. It will be a lot of fun, but all the more if we have at least as many people as last year, and not end up with a whole bunch of my friends/relatives plus three community members (that defeats the purpose of a "community" war.).

If no one else has already, I will email Ben and ask him if he'll be available. I know he said that he would try to make it this year.

Oh, and if somehow you didn't get the location, please refer to this thread.

Sorry for the late reply, but there's not much to put out here. I will say at this point that I can't make it at all. I don't have the time and have to save up money. I'll see what ends up happening, but I think it's best to save this one and go next year, unfortunately.

Oh well, I understand that it is far away for you. If you're ever going to be in the area though, let me know and we can meet up for a battle if you want. If I'm ever in MI (which I likely won't be in the forseeable future.) we could throw something together too.

This year might be a little lacking, but hopefully next year will be a lot better. I will send Ben an email now.

I just realized that this was in July. I was kinda bummed that I was driving through New York on the 27th and would not be able to attend (the week in Maine was nice though :) ). This could turn out well… Back to the begging at the parents. :goofy:

Just heard back from Ben; it looks like he won't be able to make it. :(

atvan: Good luck. Tell your parents that they'll be able to fight too. :goofy: Seriously, I seem to remember from some of your battle reports that you faught with your dad a lot.

I'm going to invite some friends and relatives, so hopefully we'll have a somewhat-decent turnout. I've already talked to my parents about it.

Maybe you can combine the war into your trip (if you're going anywhere near the area.)? If I was in your position, I'd try to get my parents to postpone it. You are lucky in a way though; I hardly ever get to go on road trips more than once or twice a year (though that should change soon...). Well, if you're ever in the Kingston area, don't hesitate to let me know.

So... Anybody else want to come? I know there are quite a few members within a day from here. It'll be fun!

I have found out that I don't have to leave for the road trip until the first (cannot be postponed), which leaves me a few days in between, but the family is doing something until late on the 26th. :(

Edit: Google maps says it is about 3 hours- what time did battlesand things get going last year? Are you planning to do something similar this year?
Also, where do you plan to start? Will the directions from last year to dug hill park or whatever work, or is it the one that is a few minutes away?

I believe we met up around 10:15 or so in the morning. The first battle got started maybe 15 minutes after everyone had arrived (after I'd given everybody a tour of the area.). This time we are going to start at Onteora Lake; I think most people will arrive on Friday night, so I'll be there to greet everyone. We'll probably have a few semi-casual battles, but the serious stuff won't start until the next day. Dug Hill is about 5 minutes away, but it might be hard to find if you don't know the area, but we won't go there until Sunday morning, and ya'll can follow me to get there. You can find more info on Onteora Lake in this thread. If you want directions, let me know, but you should be able to get them yourself.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. It'd be great if you could come, since it doesn't seem like we'll be getting too many people this year.

I just reread this. So it starts Friday night? That should not be a problem then…! :crossesfingers:

Does any one know if Wetmonkey is coming this year? With the way he lead last time, I want to be on DX's team :goofy: , but it would be great to see more friendly faces there. Or new ones for that man, hope you can make it atvan!

And to answer your question in another thread SEAL, yes I am coming, and maybe bringing a friend, but judging by that has gone so far don't count on that until I get there.

I just want to make sure in advance, do we have to make reservations at any campsites for this? From what it sounds like there aren't any, but I just want to make sure.

Scott: wetmonkey told me that he probably won't be able to come. You and DX (and me, of course.), seem to be the only community members who are definitely coming. :( Hopefully atvan and maybe Belisaurius will be able to come. And no, there are no reservations needed, unless your dad wants to stay in a hotel again.

Belisaurius is the guy DX brought who lives around Baltimore right? That is pretty much on the way, if he can make it, I can probably give him a ride. Still have to ask my dad, but I don't see why not.

So the 27th is the night before? the majority of the battles will be on the 28th/29th, right?

atvan: That is correct. We'll probably have a few casual battles on the 27th, but nothing really serious.

Scott: Belisaurius told me that he'd be in NYC for his job on those dates, and he'll try to make it, but no promises. I don't think you guys are going through NYC, are you? I don't really think he would need a ride anyway.
